Racing Incident Report
Race One : (29) - HOI MEI HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 TOPSPIN KING (L141) M L Yeung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 2 ALWAYS MY FOLKS (J345) Z Purton Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Z Purton reported that his mount raced keenly in the early stages and did not settle.
He said in the Home Straight ALWAYS MY FOLKS failed to respond to his riding.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY GEMINI (L129) Y L Chung Jumped only fairly.
Approaching the 400 Metres, when laying out, was steadied to avoid SOLAR RIVER (R Kingscote) which shifted in slightly.
R Kingscote was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 5 SWEET BRIAR (H044) C L Chau On jumping became unbalanced when bumped by DIRIYA which shifted in.
C L Chau reported that his mount would be advantaged by being stepped up in distance for its next race start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 MACANESE MASTER (J532) K Teetan K Teetan reported that he was obliged to make use of the horse in the early stages to go forward.
He said MACANESE MASTER raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event when unable to cross runners to its inside before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 DIRIYA (K282) B Avdulla Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
Near the 100 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of RUNJEET to obtain clear running.
DIRIYA then raced tight between RUNJEET and SOLAR RIVER over the concluding stages.
Horse No 9 RUNJEET (K276) L Ferraris Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 10 SMART CITY (J213) J Orman Near the 600 Metres, SMART CITY, which was laying out, was steadied to avoid MACANESE MASTER (K Teetan) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear.
K Teetan was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 11 SPICY SPANGLE (J087) K C Leung Bumped shortly after the start.

Second favourite Spicy Spangle jumped alertly to lead from gate eight and kept finding after straightening two lengths on top for a cosy third career win and second over the Valley 1,000m from 32 starts. He had been knocking on the door late last season. Solar River ran on nicely for second after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He was fitter for a run last Wednesday and has now placed in both Valley 1,000m starts. Iconical just held on to win a three-way battle for third after a box-seat run. It was a good effort at his first attempt over the Valley 1,000m. Beauty Gemini nearly got up along the inside for third after recovering from a tardy start to travelling midfield. It was a better effort at his first run over the Valley 1,000m after a dull initial run down in Class Five on opening day at Sha Tin. Diriya finished well to nearly fill the frame after switching off heels for a clear run 100m out following a rails run travelling just worse than midfield. It was a positive showing at his first Valley 1,000m run. Runjeet weakened after a speed-tracking run as one of the favourites. He’s limited.
