Recap by phillip woo

Devas Twelve tracked the speed from gate three before hitting the front 250m out and lifting to hold off firming favourite Happy Boss for a fifth win from 29 starts. Happy Boss made it close on the wire after peeling into the open 300m out following a rails run from better than midfield. He's run well in back-to-back starts after a win in December. Peridot finished nicely through the centre for third after a one-off trip from midfield. It was an improved effort from a better draw at his second straight run over 1,400m. Big Return succumbed late after dictating the run from gate eight. It was another honest showing. Amazing Duck ran on well to just miss a top four spot after a rails run from behind midfield. He's not far off a winning performance. The All Rounder ran on late without threatening after making his run at the rear from gate 12.
