Recap by phillip woo

Lucky McQueen had a prominent run wide without cover from gate 10 and just got up in the concluding stages to deny long time leader Smart Fighter for a first win at his 11th start. Smart Fighter gave a cheeky sight on the lead from gate six. It was his best run of the campaign but was a well-rated runner. Favourite The Heir was given every chance in the box seat from gate one but only plugged on one paced. He's more effective ridden further back in the run. Joker Orbit kept on well for fourth after a prominent run one off the fence from gate nine. It was an improved run after a downgrade. Viva Firecracker made ground late near the inside for fifth after biding his time third last from gate eight. He's still working out the kinks but has shown flashes of ability in his six runs. King Glorioso weakened after a speed-tracking run from gate 12. He's already hit his mark following a win off 45 in October. Fashion Legend made only a mild bid after a one-off trip from behind midfield. Sky Phoenix reared and unseated his rider at the start.

After taking evidence from Senior Starter Mr A Speechley it was established that as the start was effected SKY PHOENIX reared simultaneously, resulting in its rider K Teetan being dislodged and SKY PHOENIX completing the course riderless.

As the incident occurred simultaneously to the start being effected the horse was declared a runner.
