Racing Incident Report
Race One : (414) - FU TAI HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 GALE SAGA (J152) K Teetan Near the 200 Metres K Teetan had his whip knocked from his grasp by the whip of Apprentice E C W Wong (WINNING MACHINE).
Inconvenienced after passing the 100 Metres by WINNING MACHINE which shifted out.
Horse No 2 SPEEDY TRIDENT (K230) R Kingscote On jumping got unbalanced when bumped by EURO ROCKS which shifted out.
Horse No 3 WINNING MACHINE (K239) E C W Wong Slow to begin.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Apprentice E C W Wong pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 300 Metres (see CASA LEGEND).
Inside the final 100 Metres shifted out under pressure whilst being ridden along, inconveniencing GALE SAGA.
Apprentice E C W Wong explained that his instructions were to take up a more forward position but was left with no alternative than to ride his mount back after missing the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 GOOD PROSPECT (J406) L Ferraris L Ferraris reported that his instructions were to take up a forward position if not lead.
Trainer B Crawford confirmed the instructions issued as GOOD PROSPECT failed to quicken when ridden back at its last start, therefore they decided to go forward today.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 MY FLYING ANGEL (J174) A Badel Shortly after the start got its head up.
Held up after passing the 400 Metres until inside the 200 Metres.
Horse No 7 MAJESTIC DELIGHT (K189) D B McMonagle Was unable to improve its position from the 500 Metres and was then held up for clear running from the 400 Metres until inside the 300 Metres.
Horse No 8 THE CONCENTRATION (H465) M Guyon Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 MANYTHANKS FOREVER (J065) A Atzeni Held up after passing the 400 Metres and failed to obtain clear running until inside the 100 Metres.
Horse No 10 CASA LEGEND (G126) M F Poon Slow to begin.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Apprentice E C W Wong (WINNING MACHINE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of CASA LEGEND, resulting in CASA LEGEND having to be checked and in doing so having to avoid the heels of GALE SAGA.
Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 11 March 2026 and to expire on Thursday, 19 March 2026 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his poor race riding record.
Horse No 11 SMART ENGINEER (K244) D Probert D Probert advised that his instructions were to ride his mount more quietly today which was confirmed by Trainer K W Lui.
Horse No 12 THE WAY WE WIN (J493) M L Yeung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 13 EURO ROCKS (H153) M Chadwick On jumping shifted out and bumped SPEEDY TRIDENT.

The Concentration was wide with cover in midfield before rushing to the lead 180m out and shooting clear for a fourth win from 31 career starts. Winning Machine ran on strongly for second after getting badly held up between the 350m and 200m following a patient ride out the back from gate 13. It was a solid effort following a stable change. Early favourite Gale Saga made headway late near the outside for third after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He was able to back up a rallying second last start. My Flying Angel finished nicely near the inside for fourth after getting held up for a run between the 350m and 150m following a rails run from behind midfield. Majestic Delight just whacked on one paced after a handy run on the inside. It was only an OK effort.
