Race Eight : (341) - THE RACING CLUB CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 2 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 BEAUTY ETERNAL (H008) B Avdulla Approaching the 100 Metres was steadied to avoid INFINITE RESOLVE (A Badel) which shifted out when not clear.
A Badel was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 2 HEALTHY HAPPY (D435) C L Chau When questioned regarding his riding in the middle stages and as to whether there was an opportunity to hold his position one off the fence behind BEAUTY CRESCENT, C L Chau stated that when BEAUTY CRESCENT commenced to race keenly approaching the 800 Metres he elected to shift out slightly to give his horse sufficient clearance from the runner in front.
He said as he shifted out LITTLE PARADISE was then able to take advantage of that position and commenced a forward move which he was unable to prevent due to his positioning on the track.
Horse No 3 INVINCIBLE SHIELD (K168) C Y Ho A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 DANCING CODE (G365) E C W Wong Apprentice E C W Wong stated that from the outside barrier he had to make too much use of his mount in the early stages to lead and as a consequence DANCING CODE was unable to finish the race off in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 DROMBEG BANNER (H117) M Guyon Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between MID WINTER WIND which shifted out and HEALTHY HAPPY which was taken in by INFINITE RESOLVE when that runner was taken in by SKY TRUST (H Bowman).
H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 7 MARKWIN (J420) H T Mo Jumped only fairly.
Near the 900 Metres was crowded by BEAUTY CRESCENT.
Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race.
As this was the second occasion that MARKWIN had bled, the horse is permanently barred from any further racing.
Horse No 8 LITTLE PARADISE (K246) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 PUBLIC ATTENTION (L035) A Atzeni Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 10 YOUNG CHAMPION (J195) M L Yeung Leaving the 900 Metres shifted in and away from DANCING CODE and made contact with the running rail.
A short distance later YOUNG CHAMPION was steadied to avoid DANCING CODE (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted in when not clear.
Apprentice Wong was severely reprimanded.
M L Yeung stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position, however, when YOUNG CHAMPION raced keenly in the early stages it held a more forward position than had been intended despite his efforts to restrain the horse to comply with his instructions.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 BEAUTY CRESCENT (H334) Y L Chung Near the 900 Metres was steadied when crowded by PUBLIC ATTENTION (A Atzeni) which shifted in before being corrected.
A Atzeni was advised to exercise more care.
For some distance after the 900 Metres raced keenly and was steadied away from SKY TRUST.
Horse No 13 INFINITE RESOLVE (K369) A Badel Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.

Favourite Little Paradise settled midfield and wide with cover before hitting the lead near the 200m and surging clear for a fifth win from eight starts. Well-backed Infinite Resolve ran on nicely for second with three wider out after a gap opened 250m out following a patient ride third last from gate 10. It was another solid effort. Mid Winter Wind ran on nicely near the inside for third after biding his time three from the rear. He ran well. Public Attention stayed on well for fourth after a prominent run wide and without cover. He's run well on each of his three local runs. Beauty Eternal made good ground late for fifth after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was an improved effort following a downgrade. Healthy Happy stayed on next best after a wide trip with cover travelling behind midfield. Punted late Sky Trust faded after briefly drawing level for the lead 300m out with Dancing Code following a speed-tracking run.
