Recap by phillip woo

Joy Capital led from gate nine and just held on in a slow time for a maiden win at his second start. It was a much-improved effort after a speed-tracking 11th on debut in November. Sea Sapphire kept on gamely for second after tracking the winner from gate six. He can produce a good run now and then over this course and distance. Bigtime Generation just missed second by a nose after a prominent run on the fence. It was a vastly improved effort at his second run down in Class Four. Circuit Duffy just failed to place after a wide with cover trip from better than midfield. It was a lot better run on his return to Sha Tin after four lifeless runs at the Valley this season. Winning Champion ran on late to finish a neck fifth after a wide and with cover trip from behind midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (304) - HILLWOOD HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 MEOWTH (J487) C L Chau Approaching the 800 Metres was steadied away from WINNING CHAMPION when racing keenly.

Horse No 3 KING OBERON (H407) L Ferraris L Ferraris stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event and was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.

Horse No 4 BEAUTY GEMINI (L129) Z Purton Slow to begin.

Z Purton stated that his mount failed to respond to his riding when under pressure in the Home Straight but could offer no explanation for its disappointing performance other than he indicated that the horse, in his opinion, trialed only fairly when he rode it at its most recent barrier trial on 16 December 2025.

Trainer A S Cruz advised that he would now look to drop the horse back in distance to race over 1000 Metres for its next race start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 JOY CAPITAL (K573) J Orman When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer W Y So stated that the horse was advantaged by having experience at its first race start and further was assisted by receiving a comfortable run in the lead, particularly in the middle stages of the event.

Sent for sampling post-race.
