Recap by phillip woo

New Forest kept up a strong gallop after spearing straight to the lead from gate 14 for a first win at his sixth local start. The combination of a drop to Class Four and the dirt 1,650m worked the oracle. Precision Goal stayed on well for second after a box-seat run. He rarely produces a bad run on this surface. Favourite Meepmeep ran on strongly for third after making his run third last from gate 11. It was a very good run on the back of an inadequate pace. Magniac kept on well for fourth after a handy run on the fence. He was able to build on a rallying fifth over 1,200m. Well-backed late, Viva Chaleur finished nicely for fifth after a patient ride fourth last from a tricky gate. He will be a force to be reckoned with if he can find his way into Class Five. Fashion Legend produced a grinding effort after finding a one-off spot travelling midfield from gate 13.
