Recap by phillip woo

Stellar Express led and never looked back from gate five for a cosy win. He relished a return to the course and distance of a win in December after staying on for third last start at the Valley. Metro Power took second 100m out after sitting third in the run from a middle gate. It was an encouraging debut effort. We Are Hero ran on well to just miss second prize money after making his run behind midfield and two off the stand-side rail. It was a solid effort at his seasonal reappearance following a ligament injury in October. Healthy Healthy succumbed late for fourth after chasing the winner from a low draw. He rarely produces a bad run at either track. Lucky Twin Stars ran on nicely for fifth without a clear run from the 400m until the 180m after making his run at the rear from gate 13. All Round Winner made ground without threatening near the far side after making his run second last from gate eight.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (705) - INDIGENOUS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

Horse No 2 STELLAR EXPRESS (J186) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 DREAM WINNER (H308) C L Chau Shortly after the start shifted in and was bumped.

Leaving the 800 Metres was checked when crowded between SUPER FORTUNE and CELESTIAL HERO (L Hewitson) which shifted out.

A short distance later CELESTIAL HERO was unable to relieve the pressure when ALSONSO shifted out slightly.

In the circumstances L Hewitson was advised to exercise more care.

When questioned regarding his riding from the 700 Metres C L Chau stated that when he was of the opinion there was no position for him to improve he elected to shift in to the middle of the track to obtain clear running and ride his mount in a similar way to when it won on 13 April 2025.

Horse No 4 CELESTIAL HERO (K363) L Hewitson Bumped on jumping.

Near the 300 Metres made contact with ALL ROUND WINNER when endeavouring to improve to the inside of NORTHERN FIRE BALL.

Horse No 6 SUPER FORTUNE (G065) Y L Chung Knuckled on jumping.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 SIR CHARGE (K361) A Hamelin Jumped awkwardly and became unbalanced.

Horse No 8 LUCKY TWIN STARS (K126) K Teetan Near the 250 Metres raced tight to the outside of BLAZING WIND.

Horse No 9 METRO POWER (K408) B Thompson Bumped at the start.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 JUSTIFYING (K027) A Atzeni After the event A Atzeni stated that the instructions were to take up a forward position.

He said JUSTIFYING failed to travel at any stage of the event and was under heavy riding throughout the race before giving ground over the concluding stages.

Trainer C Fownes could offer no excuse for the horse's disappointing performance.

He added JUSTIFYING had pleased him leading into the race today and he had expected it to perform well.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of JUSTIFYING was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, JUSTIFYING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 NORTHERN FIRE BALL (J488) M F Poon Blundered at the start.

Horse No 13 ALSONSO (J405) A Badel Bumped at the start.

Horse No 14 BLAZING WIND (J157) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.

After the event M Chadwick reported that his mount hung in away from the stand rail and proved difficult to ride out in the Home Straight.

Trainer C S Shum advised that BLAZING WIND had pleased him since its last start on 18 May 2025.

He added that, in his view, BLAZING WIND was not suited by racing on the stand rail as it hung in and he would in future avoid racing the horse over this course and distance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of BLAZING WIND was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, BLAZING WIND will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
