Race Seven : (549) - THE SPRINT CUP - Class G2 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 KA YING RISING (J062) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 CALIFORNIA SPANGLE (E314) B Avdulla After the event, B Avdulla reported that his mount responded only fairly in the Home Straight after leading and he had some concerns with the manner in which it finished the race off.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA SPANGLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 3 HELIOS EXPRESS (H302) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 MAGIC CONTROL (J333) H Bentley After the event, H Bentley stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages, however, approaching the Home Turn commenced to race keenly.
He said in the Home Straight MAGIC CONTROL did not respond to his riding which he attributed to the horse not running out the 1200 Metres in Group 2 company.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 COPARTNER PRANCE (H408) J Orman Raced keenly in the middle stages after being crossed by KA YING RISING.

Raging favourite Ka Ying Rising tracked the speed before cruising to the lead 350m out and being eased down with plenty in hand for a 12th win and 11th on the bounce from 14 starts. Helios Express ran on well for second without threatening the winner travelling second last after a slow start for a sixth minor placing from as many starts this term. It was another solid effort. Lucky With You had to settle for third after moving to second soon after straightening following a prominent run. It was a good effort after rejoining Group class following back-to-back Class One wins. Copartner Prance stayed on for fourth after handy run on the fence. It was another honest performance despite getting tossed in the deep end. Gorgeous Win came from last to finish next best. This was a different kettle of fish after some solid course and distance performances in class company. California Spangle didn't find much after dictating the run from gate seven. He's beyond his better days.
