Recap by phillip woo

Sky Deep tracked the speed from gate 10, moved to the lead 350m out and kept up a strong gallop to just hold off Harold Win for a first win at his sixth start. Harold Win was close with every stride to just miss after a wide with cover trip from midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen following placings in back-to-back runs. Favourite Spirit Of Peace ran on nicely down the outside for third after badly dipping at the start and spotting them five lengths. He clearly has the tools to add to a win two runs ago. Leslie just got up to win a blanket finish for fourth after getting held up for a run until the 150m following a rails run from behind midfield. It was his best effort from four starts. Smart Fighter ran on well to just miss fourth prize money after making his run wide with cover from behind midfield. It was a better run on his past couple following a Valley 1,200m win. Another Zonda ran on nicely through the middle to dead-heat for fifth following a patient ride three from the rear. It was a better run following a downgrade.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (526) - SKY DARCI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 ANOTHER ZONDA (K176) J Orman Near the 600 Metres became unbalanced when racing tight between LESLIE and SMART FIGHTER.

Held up making the Home Turn.

Over the concluding stages became unbalanced when racing in restricted room between SMART FIGHTER (K Teetan) and LESLIE, both of which shifted ground slightly.

K Teetan was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 2 SPIRIT OF PEACE (K007) R Moore As the start was effected knuckled over badly, resulting in its rider R Moore becoming badly unbalanced in the saddle and SPIRIT OF PEACE losing significant ground.

As SPIRIT OF PEACE had finished 3rd in the event, acting under the provisions of Rule 12(19) which says no horse which is declared 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th shall be so declared a non-runner, the Stewards could not consider the horse had been denied a fair start and weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

Before being allowed to race again, SPIRIT OF PEACE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 HAROLD WIN (J280) C L Chau Bumped at the start.

A Atzeni was reprimanded and advised he must stop riding and straighten his mounts when they commence to shift ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 HAPPY SHOOTER (J427) H Bentley Leaving the 300 Metres became held up behind ISLAND BREEZES and as a result could not be ridden out for the remainder of the event.
