Race Eight : (220) - MODY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 FLYING HIGH (E204) M Chadwick Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 PLEASANT ENDEAVOR (E114) J McDonald A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 RUN RUN COOL (E322) L Ferraris Between the 150 Metres and the 100 Metres was held up behind SPARKLING KNIGHT.
Horse No 5 SPARKLING KNIGHT (C201) A Hamelin After the race, A Hamelin reported that after making use of his mount to obtain the lead, SPARKLING KNIGHT was then pressured by METRO WARRIOR and as a result could not finish the race off strongly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 METRO WARRIOR (D387) L Hewitson At declaration time, K C Leung was declared as the rider of both METRO WARRIOR and ONLY U.
It was established that K C Leung had a firm commitment to ride ONLY U.
As such, the Stewards permitted L Hewitson to be substituted as the rider of METRO WARRIOR.
For this declaration error, Trainer D A Hayes was fined $2,000.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 LUCKY GOR (G217) K Teetan Bounded on jumping and lost ground.
Horse No 8 MUST GO (J133) L Currie Slow to begin.
Horse No 9 NORTHERN BEACHES (H266) Z Purton Approaching the 300 Metres was disappointed for clear running between ACE ONE and FLYING HIGH.
Was then held up from the 300 Metres to the 200 Metres behind ACE ONE and at the 200 Metres was checked to avoid ACE ONE and did not obtain clear running until near the 100 Metres when it improved into a narrow run between ACE ONE and PLEASANT ENDEAVOR.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 ONLY U (J037) K C Leung Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 12 SUPERB KID (H298) K De Melo Crowded at the start.
Over the final 150 Metres was held up behind METRO WARRIOR and unable to be ridden out to the finish.

Summit Cheers just got up in the final few metres after making his run behind midfield near the far side for a second win from three starts this term. He's returned in the form of his life and might be able to score another. Flying High did everything right but get the win after hitting the front 150m out after a handy run from a low draw. He rarely produces a bad run over this course and distance. Punted late Lucky Gor ran on nicely to finish a close third after switching into the open on the far side 350m out after badly missing the kick. It was an eye-catching effort. Pleasant Endeavor held his ground after a prominent run on the grandstand side. He's naturally returning to form in his four starts this term. Favourite Northern Beaches finished next best but was all dressed up with nowhere to go from the 400m until the final 50m following a midfield run. Speed Sword stayed on all right after a midfield run on the far side. He's gone all right in both Sha Tin sprints to start his local career.
