Americans charged with child torture and trafficking in Uganda

Two Americans have been accused of child abuse in Uganda. The country’s state prosecutors allege that Nicholas Spencer and his wife, Mackenzie Leigh Mathias Spencer, “constantly tortured” their 10-year-old foster son between 2020 and 2022. The charges against the couple were expanded from “aggravated torture of a child” to “aggravated child trafficking” on December 20, 2022. The boy is one of three children fostered by the couple.
