US President-elect Joe Biden declared that the “will of the people prevailed” in the recent US presidential elections after the nation’s Electoral College confirmed his presidential win on December 14, 2020. Biden had already secured an overall popular vote lead over Donald Trump of 81 million votes to 74 million votes, according to the Associated Press. The next step before Biden’s January 20, 2021, inauguration will come on January 6, when the US Congress will be tasked with certifying the electoral college results. Incumbent Trump has mounted court challenges to the results and refuses to concede to Biden.
