Three-month-old Yemeni twins, Al-Hasan and AI-Hussein, are suffering from acute malnutrition and are among the more than 20 such cases admitted each day to the hospital where they are now being treated. Yemen is in “imminent danger of the worst famine the world has seen for decades”, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres warned on November 20, 2020. The Middle Eastern country has been caught up in a five-year war between Iran-allied Houthi rebels and government forces. The UN warning was issued as the US planned to label the Houthi rebels as “terrorists”. The move would limit the ability of other countries to interact with the rebels, who control the Yemeni capital and much of the north, and in turn hinder the delivery of aid in Yemen.
