Chinese President Xi Jinping and his US President Joe Biden met on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in Lima, Peru on November 16, 2024. Xi told Biden that both countries should “keep exploring the right way for two major countries to get along”, adding that bilateral ties could “encounter twists and turns or even regress” if one side regarded the other as an opponent or enemy. The meeting was likely the last the two leaders will have before Biden steps down and Donald Trump becomes next US president.
