Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (92) - MAI PO HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 JUICY DRAGON (K405) L Ferraris On jumping made contact with KING'S ARROW and became unbalanced.
Horse No 2 MEGA CAPTAIN (L287) Z Purton Z Purton pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 100 Metres (see CENTRAL BANK).
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 CENTRAL BANK (L222) C L Chau Near the 800 Metres CENTRAL BANK shifted to the outside of NOBLE DELUXE to obtain a three wide position as MEGA CAPTAIN (Z Purton) improved to the outside of CENTRAL BANK.
Making the turn near the 700 Metres CENTRAL BANK was then eased when crowded between NOBLE DELUXE which shifted out slightly and MEGA CAPTAIN which shifted in slightly as it established a three wide position behind JUICY DRAGON.
Z Purton was advised in similar circumstances he should exercise more care to ensure runners to his inside are provided with sufficient racing room.
Z Purton (MEGA CAPTAIN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of CENTRAL BANK, resulting in CENTRAL BANK having to be checked.
Z Purton was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 28 October 2026 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
Horse No 5 TACTICAL ACE (L249) M Chadwick Shortly after the start shifted in and was corrected by its rider M Chadwick.
When placed under pressure in the Home Straight lay in and proved difficult to ride out.
Horse No 6 ARMOUR WAR EAGLE (J039) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 GOOD CHAP (J499) P N Wong From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 8 GIANT LEAP (J143) H Y Yuen Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 GROUPER (L233) E C W Wong E C W Wong stated that his mount jumped awkwardly and as a result lost ground at the start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 GIANT SPIRIT (L169) H T Mo Shifted out on jumping and made contact with KING'S ARROW.
Horse No 11 KING'S ARROW (L254) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was checked when crowded by GIANT SPIRIT which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
Approaching the 100 Metres, when laying in, was bumped by CENTRAL BANK which was taken out by MEGA CAPTAIN.
Horse No 12 NOBLE DELUXE (K052) A Atzeni A Atzeni stated that his mount gave ground noticeably in the Home Straight and raced in a disappointing manner but could offer no explanation for the performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Armour War Eagle was given a patient ride from gate 11 and lunged late near the outside to just beat Giant Leap for a second win from 34 starts. He deserved that after going close in five previous dirt 1,200m starts. Punted late Giant Leap found one just too good after surging to the lead 300m out following a speed-tracking run. He can produce a good run now and then on this surface. Well backed Juicy Dragon stayed on nicely for a placing after facing the breeze three wide sitting third from gate nine. He's always a chance on this surface. Favourite Mega Captain stayed on a non-threatening fourth after a wide with cover trip travelling better than midfield. He appeared to need the run. King's Arrow made good ground late for fifth after biding his time third last from gate eight.
