Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (89) - KAM TIN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 SUNNY Q (J223) C L Chau For some distance near the 350 Metres was held up behind SPICY SPANGLE.
Near the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of SPICY SPANGLE to continue into clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 MAJESTIC LIFE (L085) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly.
Leaving the 100 Metres was eased and shifted to the outside of SOLAR RIVER to continue into clear running.
Horse No 4 SPICY SPANGLE (J087) K C Leung Bumped on jumping.
Horse No 5 TOPSPIN KING (L141) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly.
M L Yeung was warned in respect to using his whip on a horse which was not responding to his riding on one occasion near the 100 Metres.
Horse No 6 VERBIER (J187) L Ferraris Near the 250 Metres was bumped by VON BAER.
Horse No 8 DIRIYA (K282) B Avdulla B Avdulla reported that the instructions were to obtain a position with cover.
He said when his mount commenced well it showed superior pace and led without being pressured to do so.
He added DIRIYA failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight and raced disappointingly.
Trainer C H Yip advised that he had not expected the horse to lead and, in his opinion, DIRIYA travelled too strongly in front which resulted in it being left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 CONCORDE STAR (J344) J Orman Bumped on jumping.
Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up behind SPICY SPANGLE.
Horse No 10 SOLAR RIVER (J308) R Kingscote For some distance approaching the 300 Metres was held up behind DIRIYA.
Horse No 11 DASH (K250) P N Wong When questioned regarding her mount settling further back in the field than its previous race start Apprentice P N Wong stated that her instructions were to ensure DASH began well but she was asked to obtain a position with cover.
She said for this reason in the early stages she allowed VON BAER to shift out and cross DASH to comply with her instructions.
Trainer D J Whyte confirmed the instructions and expressed satisfaction with the manner in which the horse was ridden today.
Horse No 12 QUICK MONEY (K377) H Y Yuen On jumping shifted out and made contact with SPICY SPANGLE.
Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that the intention was to be more forward but after making contact with SPICY SPANGLE at the start her mount settled further back than intended.
She added that over the concluding stages she was unable to ride her mount out when held up behind DASH.
Horse No 13 VON BAER (K198) M F Poon Lay out when placed under pressure over the final 400 Metres and near the 250 Metres shifted out and made contact with VERBIER.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 14 ISLAND BREEZES (J479) A Atzeni On jumping was crowded by DIRIYA which shifted in.
A Atzeni stated that his mount did not travel well during the early stages of the race.
He added over the final 100 Metres he was unable to ride ISLAND BREEZES out when held up behind CONCORDE STAR.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Favourite Sunny Q travelled behind midfield and after being held up from the 400m to the 150m, he quickened nicely to get up 60m out for a second win from 21 starts. Von Baer stayed on nicely for second after making his run better than midfield in the centre of the track. It was a much-improved effort at his second straight 1,000m run. Autumn Vibes kept on well for third after a prominent run from gate 10. He's racing consistently without winning. Dash rallied nicely for fourth from behind midfield on the far side from gate three. It was a good effort at his first run over the straight 1,000m.
