Shinyu Kokoroe had a handy run and after darting through a gap near the inside 250m out, he took control 150m out for a maiden win at his 14th local start. He was first up this season off a career rating low. Conrad The Great ran on well to grab second after a oneoff trip from midfield. He relished a return to the surface and trip of a pair of seconds last season. Favourite Wave Garden wove a run late near the inside to just take third after a patient ride. It was another good run carrying more weight following a win. Daily Trophy just failed to get up for third after a wide trip travelling second last from gate nine.

Race One : (88) - HUNG SHUI KIU HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 FLYING SNIPER (L270) M F Poon Shortly after the start was crowded by SHINYU KOKOROE which shifted out.

Horse No 4 JOLLY COMPANION (H454) Z Purton Approaching the 300 Metres made contact with GIMME FIVE due to both runners shifting ground.

Z Purton stated that after obtaining a position outside the lead his mount failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight but could offer no excuse for the horse's disappointing performance.

Trainer K L Man advised that the horse had pleased him leading into the race and he had instructed Jockey Purton to go forward from its wide barrier.

He added the only explanation he could offer for the horse's disappointing performance was that too much use had to be made of the horse in the early stages to go forward.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of JOLLY COMPANION was considered disappointing.

Before being allowed to race again, JOLLY COMPANION will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 5 DAILY TROPHY (H283) L Ferraris Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

L Ferraris stated that the preference was to hold a more forward position, but despite riding his mount along in the early stages it failed to show sufficient pace to do so.

Horse No 6 MAGIC SUPER (K330) A Badel Jumped only fairly.

The performance of MAGIC SUPER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MAGIC SUPER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 WAVE GARDEN (K209) R Kingscote Jumped only fairly.

Near the 700 Metres shifted out when being steadied to avoid FLYING SNIPER.

Near the 200 Metres was steadied and directed to the inside of THOUSAND CUPS to secure clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 SHINYU KOKOROE (K263) K Teetan Lay out in the Home Straight, resulting in its rider K Teetan changing his whip through to his left hand near the 100 Metres.

Noted to have lost its right front plate after the race.

Horse No 10 HAPPY ACTION (K399) A Atzeni Near the 50 Metres was eased and shifted to the inside of THOUSAND CUPS to continue into clear running.

A Atzeni stated that the preference was to hold a more forward position but despite riding his mount along in the early stages it failed to show sufficient pace to do so.

Horse No 11 GIMME FIVE (J099) H Y Yuen Approaching the 300 Metres made contact with JOLLY COMPANION due to both runners shifting ground.

Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that after leading the event her mount failed to run on in the Home Straight and was disappointing.

Trainer Y S Tsui advised that the horse had pleased him leading into the race and he was of the opinion that Apprentice Yuen had to make too much use of the horse in the early stages to lead and this was the principal reason for the horse's disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of GIMME FIVE was considered disappointing.

Before being allowed to race again, GIMME FIVE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
