Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Bright Day landed midfield on the rails and never went around a horse, leading 50m out to make it back-to-back wins this season. It was clearly his best run from 10 starts in the grade. Target Audience ran on strongly through the centre to finish a close second after a one-off trip travelling behind midfield. He was able to back up a win and second at his final two starts last term. Specked late Quantum Cloud finished well for third after making his run five back on the fence. It was a good first effort at the Valley after producing fourths in two of three local runs last term. Aurora Lady grudgingly gave way after assuming the lead 150m out following a speed-tracking run outside Lucky Planet from gate nine. It was a solid effort off a 311-day injury induced absence. Flying Wrote kept on a one-paced fifth with three wide out following a prominent run. It was an honest effort, but it he appears to be on or close to his mark. Veteran Power Koepp was doing his best work late for sixth after biding his time. Favourite Daryl Flash only beat a few from the rear. He failed to back up an eye-catching run first up this season.

Y L Chung stated that after settling back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight and, in his opinion, whilst racing second up, would derive a fitness benefit from tonight's performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 YOUNG ARROW (J401) M Chadwick L Ferraris (POWER KOEPP) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 50 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of YOUNG ARROW, resulting in YOUNG ARROW having to be checked.

L Ferraris was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 28 October 2026 at Sha Tin.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.

M Chadwick stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event and after receiving interference near the 50 Metres he was unable to test the horse to the finish.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
