Racing Incident Report
Race Four : (82) - FAT TSEUNG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 VIVA GRACIOUSNESS (J079) P N Wong Approaching the 300 Metres was hampered when taken wider by BLAZING METEOR which was taken out by SKY DEEP.
When questioned Apprentice P N Wong stated that her instructions were to go forward and attempt to obtain a position near the lead.
She said in the early stages she rode her mount along in accordance with her instructions, however, she was obliged to race in a position wide and without cover outside of BLAZING METEOR.
She added that whilst she recognized that the early stages of the event were being run outside of standard time she was reluctant to continue forward as she had observed BLAZING METEOR, which was stepping up in distance, racing keenly and she was of the opinion she would not be able to cross that horse if she endeavoured to do so.
She said whilst VIVA GRACIOUSNESS was disadvantaged by being obliged to race wide and without cover throughout the event she felt this provided her mount with the best opportunity to finish the race off in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 SKY DEEP (K041) E C W Wong SKY DEEP, which was leaning on the right side of its starting gate, jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Approaching the 300 Metres was inconvenienced when taken wider by ABSOLUTE HONOUR when being shifted to the outside of ABSOLUTE HONOUR.
Near the 150 Metres shifted in towards ABSOLUTE HONOUR, resulting in its rider E C W Wong having to stop riding, straighten his mount and then change his whip to his right hand.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 STURDY RUBY (H207) L Ferraris Near the 1600 Metres was steadied when crowded between MISSION GIANT which shifted in and BLAZING METEOR which shifted out when being corrected by its rider.
Horse No 4 TAKE ACTION (J098) B Avdulla After travelling a short distance was steadied when crowded between AMAZING AWARD which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and PRESTIGE RICKY which was taken out by PODIUM.
B Avdulla reported that, in his opinion, his mount would derive a fitness benefit from tonight's first up performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 JUMBO STEPS (L269) C Y Ho Trainer P C Ng confirmed from a wide barrier he had instructed C Y Ho to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages to offset the wide barrier.
Horse No 6 BLAZING METEOR (L426) M F Poon Near the 1600 Metres shifted out and made contact with STURDY RUBY.
Approaching the 300 Metres was hampered when taken wider by SKY DEEP.
M F Poon stated that the instructions were to go forward and lead if possible and race in a similar position to when it barrier trialed successfully on 18 September 2026.
Horse No 7 MISSION GIANT (K577) H T Mo Near the 300 Metres was hampered when taken wider by VIVA GRACIOUSNESS.
Trainer Y S Tsui confirmed the instructions were to obtain a handy position but with cover.
Horse No 8 ABSOLUTE HONOUR (K260) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 AMAZING AWARD (J236) R Kingscote After travelling a short distance shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and made contact with TAKE ACTION.
When questioned regarding the horse settling further back as compared to its most recent starts R Kingscote stated that his instructions were to obtain a midfield position with cover.
He said Trainer D Eustace had issued those instructions as he was of the opinion AMAZING AWARD had not been finishing its races off strongly when ridden in a more forward position.
He added in the early stages whilst there was an opportunity to cross PODIUM, having regard to his instructions, he elected to obtain a trailing position behind that runner.
Trainer Eustace confirmed the instructions and the reasons he issued such instructions.
Horse No 10 PRECISION HOPE (L047) A Badel Jumped only fairly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 PODIUM (H173) A Atzeni After travelling a short distance shifted out and made contact with PRESTIGE RICKY.
Briefly held up on the Home Turn.
Horse No 12 PRESTIGE RICKY (K009) K Teetan Crowded after travelling a short distance.
In the early stages raced keenly and near the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid PRECISION HOPE.

Well fancied Absolute Honour made his own luck in front from gate 10 and kept up a good gallop for a second win from 22 starts. He continues to raise his game after some good form late last season at Sha Tin for his new trainer. Sky Deep just got up for second after a box-seat run. It was another honest performance. Favourite Precision Hope just failed near the inside to get up for second after a rails run from midfield. He is racing consistently well without winning. Podium stayed on a non-threatening fourth after travelling one off from better than midfield. He rarely produces a bad run over 1,200m and 1,650m over this course. Prestige Ricky was doing his best work late near the inside for fifth after making his run three from the rear. He was able to back up a placing at his final start last term. Sturdy Ruby made inroads late near the outside for sixth after making his run wide towards the rear following a check at the 1,600m. It was an improved effort at his second start this term. You can forgive the run by Viva Graciousness who faded after getting posted three wide sitting near the front.
