Recap by phillip woo

In a thrilling finish, Supreme Agility dashed nicely from behind midfield on the rails to make it a very close second to Firefoot but was promoted to the win after an inquiry and objection. Firefoot just held on by a lip to beat Supreme Agility after leading 250m out following a wide trip with cover travelling midfield but was demoted to second for interference in the run to the wire. Happy Universe ran on nicely near the outside to finish a short-head third after making his run fourth last from gate seven. He likes this surface and did live up to a good trial. Bull Attitude drove late near the inside to just miss a placing after biding his time second last from gate 13. He has been racing very well without winning of late on this surface. Joltin dashed late to finish a close fifth.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (72) - SHA TSUI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 GENERAL REDWOOD (L102) B Avdulla Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 HAPPY UNIVERSE (J533) K C Leung After passing the 150 Metres was bumped by SUPREME AGILITY after that horse was taken out by FIREFOOT.

Horse No 4 VIVACIOUS WIN (K223) Z Purton Z Purton could offer no explanation for his mount's performance today.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 SUPREME AGILITY (J267) J Orman The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in as they were of the opinion that an incident had occurred near the 150 Metres which cast doubt on whether FIREFOOT should be declared the winner.

Subsequently J Orman, rider of the second placegetter, SUPREME AGILITY, lodged a protest/objection against FIREFOOT being declared the winner alleging interference near the 150 Metres.

K C Leung, rider of the third placegetter, HAPPY UNIVERSE, and Trainer K H Ting were requested to attend the hearing and on reviewing the video footage also lodged a protest/objection on behalf of the connections against FIREFOOT being declared the winner alleging interference inside the final 150 Metres.

On the evidence it was established that SUPREME AGILITY was crowded for room between HAPPY UNIVERSE and FIREFOOT near the 150 Metres and as a result raced in restricted room for some distance, making contact with HAPPY UNIVERSE which was racing to its outside.

The Stewards were of the opinion that had the interference not occurred SUPREME AGILITY would have finished in front of FIREFOOT bearing in mind the nose margin and the degree of interference suffered.

Accordingly, the protest/objection was sustained and the placings amended to read No.

5, SUPREME AGILITY, 1st; No.

8, FIREFOOT, 2nd; No.

2, HAPPY UNIVERSE, 3rd; and No.

12, BULL ATTITUDE, 4th.

In respect to the protest/objection on behalf of the third placegetter, HAPPY UNIVERSE, the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the degree of interference suffered to HAPPY UNIVERSE as a result of a shift from FIREFOOT and in turn SUPREME AGILITY was sufficient to justify an alteration to the placings bearing in mind the margin between FIREFOOT and HAPPY UNIVERSE at the finish.

Therefore that protest/objection was overruled.

At a subsequent inquiry K Teetan, rider of FIREFOOT, was severely reprimanded for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting out when it had a tendency to do so.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 CHILL KAKA (J486) R Kingscote R Kingscote could offer no explanation for his mount's performance today.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 FIREFOOT (J183) K Teetan Relegated to 2nd placing on protest/objection (see SUPREME AGILITY).

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 PERFECT TEAM (H120) L Ferraris Very slow to begin.

Near the 100 Metres was steadied to avoid SUPREME AGILITY and HAPPY UNIVERSE as a result of both horses shifting out.

Horse No 11 NEVER PETER OUT (J200) A Atzeni Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 BULL ATTITUDE (K305) L Hewitson Held up for clear running from the 400 Metres until near the 100 Metres.

Horse No 13 JOLTIN (L186) M F Poon M F Poon dropped his whip after passing the 300 Metres.
