Favourite Young Arrow was wide with cover in midfield and quickened nicely with one wider out to take control 50m out for a second win from 26 starts. The booking of Zac Purton worked the oracle after placing third in three of his final four runs last term. Wellbacked Lucky McQueen finished well through the centre to grab second after a one-off trip settling better than midfield. It was another good effort carrying 6lb more following a win. Punted late Winning Money was mowed down late after getting his own way in front from gate three. It was another honest performance. Forza Leader made up heaps of ground late down the outside for fourth after making his run third last from gate seven. He’s run well to fill the frame in both starts this term. Grouper stayed on for fifth without threatening the top four after a prominent run on the fence. He’s gone OK in both outings across both tracks this season. Star Of Hearts ran on without threating after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He’s still a work in progress. Elegant Life was doing his best work late to finish next best after making his run second last from gate 11.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (33) - LIDO HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 GRATIFIDE (K550) R Kingscote R Kingscote reported that he was instructed to go forward.

He said after obtaining a position outside the lead GRATIFIDE came under pressure on the Home Turn before giving ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, GRATIFIDE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 2 JUICY DRAGON (K405) P N Wong Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 3 ARMOUR WAR EAGLE (J039) A Atzeni ARMOUR WAR EAGLE, which was fractious in the starting gates, made contact with the starting gate on jumping and as a result bounded at the start and lost ground.

A Atzeni stated that after losing ground at the start his mount settled back in the field and found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 LUCKY MCQUEEN (K064) M F Poon Near the 550 Metres was steadied to avoid GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP which shifted in when being steadied.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 ELEGANT LIFE (J366) E C W Wong Near the 200 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP to continue into clear running.

E C W Wong stated that he was instructed to go forward and obtain cover.

He said whilst ELEGANT LIFE jumped reasonably well and when a number of runners to his inside showed superior pace he was obliged to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages to avoid covering additional ground.

Horse No 6 YOUNG ARROW (J401) Z Purton In the early and middle stages raced keenly.

Near the 550 Metres got its head up when being steadied to avoid GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP.

Horse No 8 GROUPER (L233) C L Chau Shortly after the start made contact with GENIUS BABY.

Horse No 9 STAR OF HEARTS (L271) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly.

Near the 500 Metres was steadied when positioned tight to the inside of YOUNG ARROW.

Horse No 10 GENIUS BABY (K132) K C Leung Bumped shortly after the start.

K C Leung reported that his mount did not travel well during the event and may appreciate being stepped up in distance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP (K106) H T Mo Leaving the 600 Metres was steadied when crowded between GRATIFIDE which shifted out slightly and JUICY DRAGON (Apprentice P N Wong) which hung in as it was being corrected by its rider.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that Apprentice Wong had made an attempt to straighten her mount at this point she was advised in similar circumstances to react quicker than what she did on this occasion.
