Absolute Awakened travelled behind midfield and after angling off the rail 300m out, he quickened nicely to take control 80m out for a second win and first at Sha Tin from 13 starts. He was able to salute at his second start for his new trainer. Etalon Or found one too good in the run to the wire after working forward three wide to eventually land a spot one off travelling fifth from gate 11. It was a solid effort at his first run since January following a tendon injury. Lady's Love ran on nicely near the inside for third after making his run second last from gate 10. It was his best performance from seven local starts.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (25) - MEI TUNG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 ETALON OR (J273) H Y Yuen Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 MEGA MASTERMIND (L044) L Ferraris Bumped near the 600 Metres and raced wide and without cover thereafter.

Horse No 3 ACE (K307) C L Chau Near the 200 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded between MEGA MASTERMIND and ETALON OR, both of which shifted ground.

Horse No 5 STORM MIRROR (L179) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.

Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Z Purton stated that the instructions were to settle the horse where comfortable.

He said in the early stages he endeavoured to find cover, however, STORM MIRROR raced keenly and did not settle.

He added in the Home Straight STORM MIRROR finished the race off only fairly.

Trainer P C Ng stated that he had expected the horse to race in a more forward position and was disadvantaged by the manner in which it raced throughout the early and middle stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 STRATHPEFFER (H095) R Kingscote Near the 800 Metres was steadied when crowded by CALIFORNIA WAVES (B Avdulla) which shifted in before being corrected.

B Avdulla was reprimanded.

Horse No 9 BIG BIG WORLD (L257) C Y Ho Shortly after the start was crowded by TOP TO SKY which shifted in.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 SUPERB KID (H298) M F Poon Slow to begin.

Horse No 12 ABSOLUTE AWAKENED (K039) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 13 TOP TO SKY (K339) K Teetan Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped.

After being crossed by HERO RISING near the 600 Metres was then shifted to the outside of HERO RISING and made contact with MEGA MASTERMIND.

K Teetan reported that his mount did not appreciate the "Good to Firm" track conditions.

Trainer C H Yip advised that he had expected TOP TO SKY to lead the event and, in his opinion, was disadvantaged when HERO RISING and MEGA MASTERMIND pressured the horse in the lead.

He also confirmed that Jockey Teetan had indicated that the horse did not appreciate the "Good to Firm" track conditions.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of TOP TO SKY, a last start winner, was considered disappointing.

Before being allowed to race again, TOP TO SKY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 14 BEST FARM (K579) M L Yeung M L Yeung reported that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
