Race Six : (24) - THE TUNG WAH GROUP OF HOSPITALS CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 VICTOR SUPREME (K547) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the right side of the starting gate and lost ground.
C Y Ho reported that his mount would be suited by being stepped up in distance for its next race start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 BEAUTY VIVA (K155) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 3 LUCKY BALERION (L125) M F Poon Shifted in at the start and made contact with BEAUTY VIVA.
Horse No 5 LUCKY YEAR (K443) H Bentley Near the 450 Metres was shifted to the outside of CHEERFUL WONGCHOY to improve and made contact with AUTOMATED.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 AUTOMATED (K177) R Kingscote Bumped near the 450 Metres.
R Kingscote stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result was unable to finish the race off in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 BEAUTY MISSILE (H123) A Badel From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 700 Metres made contact with LOVELY MILES.
Horse No 8 GOOD GOOD (J224) A Atzeni Near the 400 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded by CIRCUIT MARSHAL which shifted in and away from LUCKY BALERION when racing tight to the inside of LUCKY BALERION.
A Atzeni stated that his mount is better suited on a surface with more give in it.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 GORGEOUS VICTORY (L087) Z Purton In the Home Straight lay in under pressure and proved difficult to ride out, resulting in Z Purton having to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions.
Horse No 10 LOVELY MILES (L165) L Hewitson Near the 700 Metres improved to the inside of PEARL OF PANG'S and a short distance later made contact with BEAUTY MISSILE when BEAUTY MISSILE improved to the outside of BEAUTY VIVA.
Horse No 11 CIRCUIT MARSHAL (K526) M Chadwick Near the 400 Metres shifted in and made contact with GOOD GOOD.
Horse No 13 LUCK IS BACK (J398) E C W Wong Trainer P C Ng confirmed that he had instructed E C W Wong to go forward but not necessarily lead.

Horse No 14 PEARL OF PANG'S (J447) P N Wong Near the 400 Metres Apprentice P N Wong dropped her whip.

Outsider Luck Is Back stole the race from the front, leading all the way from gate seven under a light weight. He was winner for the first time at his 22nd local start but was stepping out off a rating low. Punted late Lucky Year just held on for second by a lip after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He has honest 1,600m form. Flying Boom was closing with every stride with two wider out to just miss second after a wide with cover trip travelling beyond midfield from gate eight. Like the latter, he rarely produces a bad run over 1,600m. Gorgeous Victory ran on late for fourth after making his run three from the rear. It was a good effort at his first attempt over 1,600m. Cheerful Wongchoy kept on for fifth. It was a good effort at his first start following a stable change.
