Recap by phillip woo

Ruby Thrive had a speed-tracking run from gate six and moved to the lead 200m out for a maiden win at his fifth start. He backed up an opening day second. Outsider Precision Mind came from well back on the far side to snatch second. It was a much-improved effort after struggling on opening day over 1,200m. Thunder Prince just lost a battle for second after making his run just worse than midfield travelling near the far side from gate one. He built on a luckless ninth on opening day. Specked late Charming Babe kept on all right for fourth after a prominent sit. It was a better run under a 10lb claimer.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (20) - HING WAH HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

Horse No 2 LOOKING BRIGHT (K315) K Teetan Over the concluding stages raced tight to the outside of E HO HO and as a result became unbalanced approaching the winning post.

K Teetan stated that when pressured in the lead by RUBY THRIVE his mount came under pressure from the 300 Metres.

He said from this point onwards LOOKING BRIGHT failed to respond to his riding and raced in a disappointing manner.

Trainer F C Lor advised that the horse had pleased him coming into the race and stated that, in his opinion, LOOKING BRIGHT was not suited by being pressured in the lead by RUBY THRIVE as the horse had previously raced disappointingly in similar circumstances.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 GOLDEN ELITE (L353) R Kingscote Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 5 HANDSOME HERO (L346) C L Chau Shortly after the start made contact with GOOD POWER due to both runners shifting ground.

C L Chau stated that his mount, which was having its first race start, would derive a benefit from today's race experience.

Noted to have lost its left hind plate after the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 GOOD POWER (L228) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly and then shortly after made contact with HANDSOME HERO due to both runners shifting ground.

Horse No 7 HERO MASTERMIND (L391) L Ferraris Near the 350 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by CHARMING BABE which shifted out slightly.

For a short distance approaching the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Horse No 8 RUBY THRIVE (L098) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 E HO HO (L119) P N Wong Jumped only fairly.

Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when racing in restricted room to the outside of HANDSOME HERO which shifted out slightly.

Horse No 12 PRECISION MIND (L296) H T Mo Jumped only fairly.

Over the final 300 Metres lay out under pressure and proved difficult to ride out.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 13 SUPREME VOYAGER (L043) H Bentley When questioned H Bentley stated that in the early stages his mount raced keenly.

He said after the 800 Metres when racing in restricted room between HERO MASTERMIND and THUNDER PRINCE he elected to not contest that position when racing tight to the outside of THUNDER PRINCE.

He said the main reason why he did not contest the position was that he was of the opinion had he done so this would result in SUPREME VOYAGER racing too keenly and for this reason he elected to obtain a trailing position behind HERO MASTERMIND.

He added that throughout the middle stages SUPREME VOYAGER continued to race keenly, however, over the final 300 Metres was badly held up for clear running and could not be tested to the finish of the event.

B Avdulla, rider of THUNDER PRINCE, was advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for other runners when shifting ground.
