Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (15) - CENTRAL HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 DEFINITIVE (K037) R Kingscote Bumped shortly after the start.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 2 SOLID WIN (J225) C L Chau Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between KEEFY and DO YOUR PART which was taken out by CHINA WIN.
Horse No 3 CHINA WIN (K395) M L Yeung Approaching the 150 Metres was hampered when bumped by FORTUNATE SON (C Y Ho) which shifted in before being corrected.
C Y Ho was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 4 DO YOUR PART (J444) B Avdulla For some distance after the start raced tight between SOLID WIN and CHINA WIN which shifted out slightly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 VIOLET STAR (L149) K Teetan After the race was noted to have sustained a laceration to the left front cannon.
Horse No 6 ANOTHER ZONDA (K176) P N Wong Apprentice P N Wong stated that the instructions were to attempt to lead.
She said when her mount failed to show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so she was obliged to take a position with cover.
She added that in the Home Straight ANOTHER ZONDA failed to respond to her riding and raced in a disappointing manner.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
The performance of ANOTHER ZONDA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, ANOTHER ZONDA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 7 KEEFY (G306) M F Poon Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by SOLID WIN.
Horse No 8 SAMARKAND (H070) Z Purton Bumped at the start.
Z Purton stated that his mount came under pressure near the 600 Metres before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of SAMARKAND, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SAMARKAND will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 9 WINDLORD (L184) M Chadwick Between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 FORTUNATE SON (J446) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.

Horse No 11 DREAMING TOGETHER (L215) A Atzeni Shifted in at the start and made contact with SAMARKAND.
Shortly after the start was then steadied when crowded by DEFINITIVE which shifted in after being bumped by GENERAL REDWOOD.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 GENERAL REDWOOD (L102) Y L Chung Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Wel backed Fortunate Son was one-off behind midfield and quickened nicely to take control 150m out and win going away 150m out for a third win and first in Class Three from 28 starts. Whacked late in betting Windlord stayed on nicely for second after straightening four off the fence following a handy run. It was a vastly improved effort at his first start both for his new trainer and over the Valley 1,650m. China Win stayed on nicely for third after a one-off trip from midfield. It was a good effort at his first start since April. Violet Star made ground late near the inside for fourth after a rails run from midfield. It was another honest effort. Solid Win ran on late for fifth after getting pushed widest out upon straightening following a patient ride third last from gate six. He rarely produces a bad run over the Valley 1,650m but does appear from recent runs to be on his mark. Favourite Do Your Part was on his tippy toes 100m out after getting his own way in front from gate five. The usually consistent sort run ran below expectations. Definitive got going late without threatening after making his run at the rear from gate 10.
