Recap by phillip woo

Mighty Steed led at a slow pace from gate four and kept finding when attacked in the straight run by Circuit Century to ring up a second career win at his 26th start. He lived up to his solid Valley 1,650m form in Class Four. Firefoot stayed on nicely for second after shifting into the open 250m out following a box-seat run. He's as honest as the day is long. Circuit Century held on gamely for third after doing it tough three wide without cover near the front from gate eight. It was a much-improved effort at his first start over the Valley 1,650m. Favourite Precision Hope just failed to get up for a placing after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He was given every chance but should come on for the run. Decision Link ran on steadily for fifth settling midfield on the fence after being restrained from a wide gate at the jump. He rarely produces a bad run over this course. Casa Rochester ran on without threatening down the outside after making his run wide towards the rear. He wasn't suited by the muddling pace. The Azure finished next best after peaking on his run 100m out following a bid 500m out from behind midfield.

Horse No 9 PRECISION HOPE (L047) A Badel Shortly after the start made contact with THE AZURE and became unbalanced.

Horse No 10 CIRCUIT CENTURY (K308) H T Mo When questioned regarding his riding and the reason his mount raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event with the early stages being run outside of standard time H T Mo stated that the instructions were to hold a position where comfortable and attempt to obtain cover.

He said from his wide barrier he was caught wide in the early stages and unable to cross runners to his inside.

He said whilst there was an opportunity to go forward he was not aware that the pace of the event was being run slowly and for this reason when his horse was in a comfortable rhythm he elected to remain racing without cover.

He added that under pressure in the Home Straight CIRCUIT CENTURY responded well to his riding.

Whilst the Stewards noted the explanation provided he was advised, wherever possible, he should attempt to obtain a position closer to the rail to avoid covering additional ground.
