Shamz travelled wide towards the rear and sustained a move 650m out to take control 50m out for a first local win. He had finished no better than seventh from 10 other starts but was likely suited by the wet track. Sky Deep kept on well for second after prompting the pace holding the fence inside favourite Gorgeous Victory. It was a good performance at his first start over the Valley 1,650m. Prestige Ricky ran on nicely down the outside for third after making his run at the rear from gate nine. He can produce a good run now and then. Take Action finished well for fourth after working into the open with one wider out at the 200m following a patient ride third last. He's always a chance over the Valley 1,650m. Lucky Together just lost fourth late after following the early move of Light Years Glory to sit closer three wide without cover in midfield 600m out. It was one of his better efforts from 10 local runs. Gazeley gradually faded after a prominent run from gate 11. Favourite Gorgeous Victory didn't find much in the stretch drive after leading one off from gate 10 until handing up to Light Years Glory 600m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (861) - SWEET ORANGE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 SKY DEEP (K041) J Moreira Near the 650 Metres was steadied to avoid GORGEOUS VICTORY when racing keenly.

In the Home Straight raced greenly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 IVY LEAGUE (H116) R Kingscote On jumping was bumped by VERY GRATEFUL which shifted out.

Held up making the Home Turn until near the 250 Metres.

Hung in in the Home Straight.

Horse No 3 LIGHT YEARS GLORY (K204) H Bowman Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when racing tight between GORGEOUS VICTORY and SKY DEEP which shifted out.

H Bowman reported that with his mount stepping up distance it raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.

He said near the 900 Metres when LIGHT YEARS GLORY refused to settle he was obliged to allow it to stride forward where it obtained the lead near the 600 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, LIGHT YEARS GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 4 TAKE ACTION (J098) B Avdulla After travelling a short distance was bumped by PRESTIGE SUPERIOR which shifted out.

Horse No 5 VERY GRATEFUL (K396) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly, shifted out and made contact with IVY LEAGUE.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 SHAMZ (L097) L Ferraris Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 LUCKY TOGETHER (L079) A Badel Near the 800 Metres commenced to race keenly when LIGHT YEARS GLORY improved to its outside.

As a result LUCKY TOGETHER shifted out when being steadied away from PRESTIGE SUPERIOR.

Horse No 8 GORGEOUS VICTORY (L087) Z Purton Near the 50 Metres was steadied when crowded between GAZELEY and LIGHT YEARS GLORY which was taken out by SKY DEEP (J Moreira) which shifted out.

J Moreira was reprimanded.

Z Purton stated that he was issued with no specific instructions and when his mount commenced well he was able to stride forward to lead in the early stages.

He added as GORGEOUS VICTORY was having its first race start at Happy Valley it raced ungenerously and did not appear to be comfortable on the circuit.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 PRESTIGE RICKY (K009) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 600 Metres was hampered when taken wider by WHOWROTETHATSONG.

Horse No 11 PRESTIGE SUPERIOR (K383) H T Mo Jumped awkwardly.

After travelling a short distance shifted out and made contact with TAKE ACTION.

Near the 600 Metres came under pressure when racing between LUCKY TOGETHER and IVY LEAGUE.

A short distance later IVY LEAGUE (R Kingscote) improved to the outside of SKY DEEP when SKY DEEP became unbalanced and shifted in.

As a result IVY LEAGUE then shifted out, crowding PRESTIGE SUPERIOR between LUCKY TOGETHER and IVY LEAGUE, resulting in PRESTIGE SUPERIOR having to be steadied.

R Kingscote was severely reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to maintain his position behind SKY DEEP.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 WHOWROTETHATSONG (L048) Y L Chung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After travelling a short distance raced tight between PRESTIGE RICKY and TAKE ACTION.

Near the 600 Metres shifted out when being steadied to avoid PRESTIGE SUPERIOR and as a result made contact with PRESTIGE RICKY.

Between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Over the concluding stages raced tight between GAZELEY and LUCKY TOGETHER.
