Racing Incident Report
Race Six : (801) - CONNAUGHT ROAD CENTRAL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 SPIRIT OF PEACE (K007) Z Purton Z Purton stated that his mount was reluctant to race in amongst other horses and was steadied to avoid JOY STAR near the 800 Metres.
He added in the Home Straight he shifted his mount to the outside to provide it with a clear run but he was disappointed with its finishing effort.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 DANICA'S CHOICE (L096) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 GOOD LUCK HAPPY (K301) Y L Chung Y L Chung stated that the instructions were to settle in an on-pace position with cover.
He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to continue forward and lead the event to avoid covering additional ground.
Horse No 4 GEORGIAN SIGMA (L007) B Avdulla Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped heavily by GRACEFUL HEART.
Leaving the 1100 Metres shifted in and away from JOY STAR and made contact with GRACEFUL HEART.
Horse No 5 RYUI KOKOROE (L120) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly.
Near the 600 Metres made contact with FREE PONY when both runners shifted ground.
Horse No 6 CLOUD NINE (L050) L Ferraris Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 GRACEFUL HEART (L207) C L Chau Shortly after the start shifted out and made heavy contact with GEORGIAN SIGMA.
Bumped leaving the 1100 Metres.
Held up for clear running on the Home Turn.
For a short distance near the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of GEORGIAN SIGMA to continue into clear running.
Horse No 9 FREE PONY (K229) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.
From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 600 Metres made contact with RYUI KOKOROE when both runners shifted ground.
Horse No 10 FUN ELITE (J042) L Hewitson Near the 600 Metres made contact with SPIRIT OF PEACE which shifted out slightly.
Was left racing wide and without cover from the 600 Metres.
L Hewitson confirmed that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.
He added that FUN ELITE made a respiratory noise during the running of the event before failing to run on in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 JOY STAR (L235) H T Mo Jumped only fairly.
Leaving the 1100 Metres was steadied when crowded by GOOD LUCK HAPPY (Y L Chung) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
Y L Chung was reprimanded.
When being shifted in to obtain cover behind GEORGIAN SIGMA near the 800 Metres raced keenly and got its head up for some distance thereafter.
Near the 300 Metres was eased to avoid GRACEFUL HEART which shifted to the outside of BITS SUPERSTAR to obtain clear running.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, JOY STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 12 KING ALLOY (K099) M L Yeung M L Yeung stated that his mount may not have appreciated the step-up in grade tonight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sensationally backed Danica's Choice was wide without cover behind midfield but responded nicely to overhaul Good Luck Happy in the concluding stages for a first win at his seventh local start. He was able to build on a fifth at his initial Valley 1,200m run for his new trainer. Punted late Cloud Nine stayed on nicely for second after getting posted wide near the speed from gate nine. He's a winner waiting to happen with placings in both Valley 1,200m runs. Good Luck Happy grudgingly gave way after clearing to lead from gate eight. It was a good effort at his first run following lameness in February. Well backed Graceful Heart ran on well for fourth without threatening the first three after making his run five back on the fence. He proved a fourth last start at his initial Valley 1,200m run was not a fluke. Bits Superstar just held his ground after settling midfield on the fence. Favourite Spirit Of Peace ran on without threatening after making his run three from the rear. He couldn't build on a badly held up fourth last start. Georgian Sigma had his chance but couldn't lift after a prominent run with cover from gate two.
