Post time favourite Lucky McQueen had a one-off trip in midfield and picked up nicely through the centre to just overhaul Lean Master for a second win over the Valley 1,200m this term. The booking of Joao Moreira was the difference in the end. Lean Master found one too good after leading from gate nine carrying a feather weight. It was an improved effort at his third straight start over the Valley 1,200m. New Power stayed on nicely for third after sitting one off without cover in third. It was a solid effort at his first run back following a ligament injury in January. Early favourite Spirit Of Peace ran on nicely from near the back for fourth despite having little go right in the run, including a check 450m out and again 150m out. He's a winner in waiting at this level. Jolly Companion stayed on for fifth after a rails run from better than midfield. It was another honest effort. Happy Shooter was on his tippy toes 100m out after rushing forward to track the leader 900m out from gate eight. He prefers Sha Tin. Gameplayer Elite broke through the starting gate and was withdrawn by order of the stewards on veterinary advice.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (731) - CIRON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SPIRIT OF PEACE (K007) Z Purton Noted to have blood in the mouth at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Near the 500 Metres was severely checked to avoid CALIFORNIA BAY when that runner gave ground when being corrected by its rider.

Held up making the Home Turn.

Approaching the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving to the outside of JOLLY COMPANION which shifted out.

Horse No 2 HAPPY SHOOTER (J427) L Hewitson Crowded shortly after the start.

Horse No 3 HAYDAY (H321) M F Poon M F Poon reported that his mount did not appreciate the "Good to Firm" track conditions.

Horse No 5 RYUI KOKOROE (L120) H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 500 Metres was hampered when taken wider by SPIRIT OF PEACE which shifted out when being severely checked.

Horse No 7 CALIFORNIA BAY (K364) K Teetan Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between LUCKY MCQUEEN which shifted out after making contact with TACTICAL COMMAND and HAPPY SHOOTER which was taken in by LEAN MASTER (Apprentice P N Wong) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.

Apprentice Wong was advised in similar circumstances she would be expected to straighten her mounts sooner than what she did on this occasion.

When questioned K Teetan stated that after receiving crowding at the start his mount settled further back than intended.

He said near the 500 Metres after being contacted by TACTICAL COMMAND, CALIFORNIA BAY hung in and as a result he was required to correct his mount to prevent it from crowding TACTICAL COMMAND.

He added that as a result CALIFORNIA BAY became unbalanced and lost ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 TACTICAL COMMAND (H197) A Atzeni Shortly after the start made contact with LUCKY MCQUEEN.

A short distance later TACTICAL COMMAND was steadied when crowded between NEW POWER and LUCKY MCQUEEN.

Near the 500 Metres shifted out when being steadied to avoid JOLLY COMPANION and as a result made contact with CALIFORNIA BAY.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 JOLLY COMPANION (H454) C Y Ho On jumping made contact with the left side of the starting gate.

Horse No 12 LEAN MASTER (H134) P N Wong Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 GAMEPLAYER ELITE (H356) H Bentley Prior to the start being effected lunged forward, made heavy contact with the starting gates and as a result broke through before being quickly restrained.

Acting on veterinary advice that GAMEPLAYER ELITE was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, GAMEPLAYER ELITE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
