Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite My Mars had a one-off trip in midfield and after leading 150m out, he kept on gamely to notch a second win and a close second from three local starts. He's got the tools to head higher. Almighty Lightning ran on nicely through the centre for second after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He showed his true colours after failing on a wet track last time out. Gustosisimo kept finding for third after working forward three wide from gate 13 to eventually slot one-out, one-back 800m out. He appreciated dropping in class. Endurance Express gave a cheeky sight for fourth after leading from gate nine under a 10lb claimer. It was an encouraging effort at his first local start.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten : (723) - STANDARD CHARTERED RENMINBI BUSINESS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 2 MICKLEY (K082) Z Purton Z Purton reported that his mount would be suited by being stepped up in distance for its next race start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 TITAN PEGASUS (L213) E Brown When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages of the Home Straight E Brown stated that after being held up behind ELITE GOLF, he shifted to the outside of ELITE GOLF near the 400 Metres, but he was reluctant to continue to shift out as he identified calls from a number of riders to his outside.

He said for this reason he commenced cautiously to shift to the outside of VIGOR HAPPINESS and as he did so he was then prevented from shifting out further when STAR RISE improved to his outside.

He said as a consequence he was then obliged to check to avoid VIGOR HAPPINESS near the 300 Metres when that runner gave ground quickly, resulting in his mount shifting out and making contact with STAR RISE.

Horse No 4 COOL BOY (L014) J Orman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 5 MY MARS (L301) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 FLYING FORTRESS (J445) H Bowman Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 7 STAR RISE (K516) J McDonald Made contact with the left side of its starting gate on jumping and lost ground.

Near the 300 Metres was bumped heavily by TITAN PEGASUS which shifted out when being checked.

Near the 150 Metres was checked when crowded between ELITE GOLF (H Bentley) which shifted out slightly and SUGAR SUGAR (J Moreira) which improved to the inside of FLYING FORTRESS (H Bowman) as that runner commenced to give ground and shift in slightly.

Jockeys Bentley, Moreira and Bowman were all advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

STAR RISE then could not be ridden out to the finish of the event when held up behind SUGAR SUGAR.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 COMET MAJESTY (L304) C L Chau Near the 450 Metres COMET MAJESTY, which hung out, was checked to avoid FLYING FORTRESS (H Bowman) which shifted in slightly and ALMIGHTY LIGHTNING (A Atzeni) which, after shifting to the outside of MY MARS (B Avdulla), was taken out by MY MARS.

After considering the evidence the Stewards advised Jockeys Bowman, Atzeni and Avdulla to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 9 ELITE GOLF (L023) H Bentley Lay out under pressure in the Home Straight.

Horse No 10 ENDURANCE EXPRESS (L397) H Y Yuen Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

Horse No 11 VIGOR HAPPINESS (L284) H T Mo Jumped awkwardly.

Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

H T Mo reported that his mount made a respiratory noise during the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 SUGAR SUGAR (G016) J Moreira Over the final 100 Metres could not be ridden out when positioned tight to the inside of FLYING FORTRESS which shifted in.

Horse No 13 ALMIGHTY LIGHTNING (L126) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 14 LUNAR DASH (K334) K Teetan On jumping was bumped by ENDURANCE EXPRESS which shifted out.

Over the concluding stages was hampered when taken wider by ALMIGHTY LIGHTNING which shifted out before being corrected by its rider.

K Teetan advised that from a wide barrier he was asked to ride the horse in a conservative manner, similar to the way it was ridden at its two most recent barrier trials.
