Recap by phillip woo

Violet Star rocketed home from third last near the outside to take control 50m out for a first win at his seventh local start. He relished a step back to the distance of a third two runs ago. Power Of Vitam flashed home widest out to grab second after making his run second last from gate six. It was an eye-catching effort at his first start over the Valley 1,650m. Do Your Part found a couple too good after clearing to lead 1,200m out from gate 11. He's as honest as the day is long. Riding Together stayed on nicely for fourth after a wide trip with cover travelling midfield from gate 10. It was a better performance at his second ever outing over the Valley 1,650m. Casa Rochester made good ground late for fifth after making his run at the rear from gate 12. It was a good run at his first start following a stifle injury in November. Early favourite Sky Vino just plodded after a rails run from midfield. The big weight took its toll. California Moxie ran on without threatening after a rails run from behind midfield. Win Method didn't find much after working forward three wide to track the leader from gate nine.
