Race Five : (709) - THE EWO CHALLENGE TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1000Meters
Horse No 2 TYCOON RESOURCES (L234) Y L Chung After being placed in the starting gates reared and got its head over the front of the starting gate for a short period of time.
Was removed from the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
Briefly crowded near the 600 Metres by SUPER SIXTY which lay in.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY THUNDER (J299) A Badel Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 4 BEAUTY SHOW (L260) Z Purton Z Purton could offer no explanation for his horse's disappointing performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 WINNING MONEY (J116) L Ferraris Bumped on jumping.
L Ferraris stated that from his wide barrier he was instructed to take up a forward position.
Trainer K W Lui confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 7 GRAND NOVA (J323) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 HARMONY FIRE (E175) E Brown Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with WINNING MONEY.
Horse No 9 SUPER SIXTY (J071) J Moreira Near the 600 Metres lay in towards TYCOON RESOURCES and as a result rider J Moreira was obliged to correct his mount at that point.
Between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of HARMONY FIRE.
Horse No 10 BITS SUPERSTAR (J362) C L Chau Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when positioned close to BEAUTY SHOW.

Near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid TYCOON RESOURCES.

Firming favourite Tycoon Resources started slowly but showed a good turn of foot to come from near last at the top of the straight to just beat Grand Nova to remain perfect in two starts. The three-year-old has a bright future. Grand Nova came up just short after leading close to home following a wide trip with cover from better than midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen. Winning Money kept on well for third after rushing forward to lead 550m out from gate 10. It was a good run at his first start over the Valley 1,000m. Beauty Thunder plugged on well for fourth after a prominent run wide without cover from gate nine. He has honest Valley 1,000m form. Flying Ting Lok finished well down the outside for fifth after making his run at the rear from gate 12. It was an improved effort with a return to the Valley 1,000m under a 7lb claimer. Harmony Fire made inroads late with two wider out for sixth after making his run third last from gate 11. Happy United just plodded after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He will be a force to be reckoned with shortly in Class Five.
