Racing Incident Report
Race Three : (707) - DENDROBIUM HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 COPARTNER FLEET (K342) H Bowman Lay in in the early stages of the Home Straight and near the 150 Metres shifted in.
H Bowman pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 150 Metres (see STORMY KNIGHT).
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 VULCANUS (J150) H T Mo On jumping shifted out and made heavy contact with CHEAHA.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 CHEAHA (K567) Y L Chung Bumped heavily at the start.
Horse No 4 GEORGIAN SIGMA (L007) M F Poon Bumped near the 600 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 FREE PONY (K229) M L Yeung On jumping made contact with STORMY KNIGHT due to both runners shifting ground.
Shortly after the start was then crowded by CAPTAIN LINK which shifted out.
Crowded near the 1000 Metres by CAPTAIN LINK.
Held up for clear running on the Home Turn.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 HEROIC VANGUARD (L180) A Badel Between the 200 Metres and the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Horse No 8 BROWNNEEDSFURTHER (K325) J Orman Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid COPARTNER FLEET which shifted in.
Approaching the 200 Metres was hampered when taken wider by CHEAHA which shifted out and away from CAPTAIN LINK.
J Orman stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position.
He said when BROWNNEEDSFURTHER jumped only fairly it settled further back in the field than what had been intended.
Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 LEGEND STAR (K271) L Hewitson Checked near the 150 Metres.
L Hewitson stated that his mount failed to finish the race off in the Home Straight but could offer no excuse for the performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 CAPTAIN LINK (K515) J Moreira Approaching the 1000 Metres, when racing keenly, shifted in when being steadied to avoid CHEAHA.
Horse No 11 STORMY KNIGHT (L062) B Avdulla On jumping made contact with FREE PONY due to both runners shifting ground.
H Bowman (COPARTNER FLEET) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 150 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of STORMY KNIGHT, resulting in STORMY KNIGHT being checked and taken in onto LEGEND STAR, also resulting in LEGEND STAR having to be checked.
H Bowman was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 10 June 2026 at Happy Valley.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
Horse No 12 VIGOR ELLEEGANT (J375) M Chadwick Shortly after the start was eased when crowded by COPARTNER FLEET which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Near the 600 Metres was bumped by GEORGIAN SIGMA which shifted in slightly.
M Chadwick stated that his instructions were to go forward.
He said after commencing only fairly he rode his mount along in accordance with his instructions but was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No KING CANNON (K543) R Kingscote Withdrawn on 19.5.26 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter CAPTAIN LINK.
Before being allowed to race again, KING CANNON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Vulcanus settled handy to the speed and one off the fence before getting up in the concluding stages for a fifth win and third this season from 42 career starts. Punted late Brownneedsfurther dashed nicely to just snatch second after making his run near last from gate eight. He's a winner waiting to happen with placings in each of his four starts over the Valley 1,200m. Favourite Georgian Sigma found a couple just too good after a speed-tracking run from gate four. It was another good run despite a switch to the Valley. Cheaha ran on nicely to just snatch fourth after a wide trip with cover from behind midfield. He's run well for fourths in back-to-back runs following a downgrade. Live Wire was swamped late after clearing to lead from gate 11. It was a positive first start over the course. Captain Link made some ground without threatening after a one-off trip from midfield. Heroic Vanguard came from last to finish next best. He's shown flashes of ability once across each track from three starts but is still a work in progress. Free Pony only plodded when asked for an effort following a rails run from midfield.
