Recap by phillip woo

Vivacious Win settled prominently and assumed the lead 280m out from Beauty Gemini en route to a first win at his 11th start. Glorious Journey ran on nicely for second after a one-off trip travelling behind midfield. He's as honest as the day is long over this Valley trip. Turin Warrior made up heaps of ground late for third making his run second last about 18 lengths off the pace at one point. The old timer rarely produces a bad run over the Valley 1,650m. Very Grateful stayed on for fourth after a rails run from midfield. It was a pleasing effort at his first start over the Valley 1,650m. Ivy League plugged on one paced after a box-seat run. He was having his first start following a bleed in early February. Aestheticism ran on late to snatch sixth prize money after a patient ride third last from gate two. To Infinity was just outdashed for sixth with a move near the inside after settling last from gate 12. Daily Acclaim made only a mild bid travelling five back on the fence at his first start over the Valley 1,650m. Bull Attitude tamely faded after tracking a hot pace.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (706) - DANDELION HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 IVY LEAGUE (H116) B Avdulla Raced keenly in the middle stages.

Making the Home Turn was held up for clear running between BEAUTY GEMINI and BULL ATTITUDE when both runners commenced to give ground.

Near the 250 Metres IVY LEAGUE, which continued to be held up for clear running, then improved into a run between BEAUTY GEMINI and BULL ATTITUDE when there was not sufficient room to do so, resulting in BEAUTY GEMINI becoming unbalanced when contacted on the hindquarters by IVY LEAGUE.

Whilst the Stewards accepted that the principal reason for the interference was due to BEAUTY GEMINI and BULL ATTITUDE giving ground B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 2 GLORIOUS JOURNEY (J137) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 NEVER TOO SOON (E434) H Bowman Bumped shortly after the start.

H Bowman stated that with the early and middle stages of the event being run inside of standard time his mount did not travel well and was unable to finish the race off in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 VERY GRATEFUL (K396) K C Leung Had its left front plate refitted at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Shifted out shortly after the start and was bumped.

K C Leung stated that with his mount stepping up in distance he was asked to race in a handy position.

Horse No 5 THE ABSOLUTE (H438) L Ferraris Slow to begin.

Approaching the 1500 Metres was steadied to avoid AESTHETICISM when racing keenly.

Horse No 7 DAILY ACCLAIM (L273) J Moreira Jumped only fairly and then was crowded between VIVACIOUS WIN and BULL ATTITUDE.

Horse No 8 TURIN WARRIOR (G150) E Brown From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 BEAUTY GEMINI (L129) Y L Chung Shortly after the start made contact with VERY GRATEFUL which shifted out.

When giving ground near the 250 Metres was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.

Y L Chung stated that the instructions were to go forward and lead with his mount stepping up in distance.

He said after obtaining the lead BEAUTY GEMINI raced too keenly and would not settle despite his efforts to do so.

He said as a consequence BEAUTY GEMINI gave ground in the Home Straight when it ran inside of standard time throughout the early and middle stages of the event.

Noted to have lost its right hind plate after the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 VIVACIOUS WIN (K223) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 BULL ATTITUDE (K305) L Hewitson L Hewitson stated that the instructions were to go forward as connections were of the opinion there was a lack of pace engaged in the race.

He said when BEAUTY GEMINI showed superior speed he raced to that runner's outside but BULL ATTITUDE was unable to respond to his riding in the Home Straight, particularly due to the early and middle stages of the event being run inside of standard time.

He added, in his opinion, the horse would be better suited when being ridden with cover.

Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 TO INFINITY (G277) A Badel From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
