Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (681) - LEI YUE MUN PARK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 2 JUBILANT WINNER (J346) A Badel Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
A Badel stated that after settling behind midfield his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight from that position.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 GOLD PATCH (L099) Z Purton Bumped at the start.
Horse No 4 CHILL BUDDY (K469) H Y Yuen Jumped awkwardly.
Near the 900 Metres was checked to avoid THRIVING BROTHERS when that runner lost ground when it shifted in and away from EFFORTLESS WIN (C L Chau) which shifted in.
Whilst the Stewards found that THRIVING BROTHERS shifting in and away from EFFORTLESS WIN was the main reason for the incident Jockey Chau was advised to exercise more care.
Between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of ACE CHAMPION.
Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that her mount did not travel well throughout the event and changed stride on a number of occasions.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 KANSAS (L305) H Bentley When giving ground near the 300 Metres was eased to avoid CHILL BUDDY (Apprentice H Y Yuen) when that runner shifted out to improve.
Apprentice Yuen was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 6 LUCKY MY WAY (K146) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 7 EFFORTLESS WIN (L310) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 THUNDER ACTION (L314) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly.
When commencing to finish the race off well could not be ridden out to the finish of the event when unable to improve between GOLD PATCH and EFFORTLESS WIN.
Horse No 10 SPICY STANDARD (J520) A Atzeni Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A Atzeni stated that he was obliged to make use of the horse in the early stages to hold a forward position and as a result did not run on in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, SPICY STANDARD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 11 THRIVING BROTHERS (J396) M Chadwick Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of EFFORTLESS WIN.

Horse No 12 RISING FROM ASHES (G209) H T Mo Bumped at the start.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Effortless Win had a one-off trip settling third and after poking his head in front 200mout out, he just held on for a debut win in Hong Kong. He remains perfect in two starts after winning his only start in Australia. Thriving Brothers should have gone close to winning after getting held up for a run until the 200m following a handy run on the fence. He's honest as the day is long. Gold Patch wouldn't go down without a fight after being hustled to lead one off outside Superb Capitalist from gate 11. It was another solid performance carrying 6lb more after back-to-back wins. Thunder Action was next best but didn't have a clear room near the inside over the final 80m following a patient ride third last. It was an eye-catching run. Rising From Ashes was finishing nicely near the outside for fifth after making his run at the rear from gate 10. It was an improved run.
