Racing Incident Report
Race Seven : (671) - CARNATION HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 NOTTHESILLYONE (J383) L Ferraris Shortly after the start blundered, shifted in and made contact with MAPOGO.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 NATURAL HIGH (J365) C L Chau C L Chau stated that the intention was to be more forward, however, his mount did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 GOOD CHAP (J499) A Atzeni A Atzeni pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 700 Metres (see FULL OF LAUGHTER).
Horse No 5 HAPPY SHOOTER (J427) L Hewitson Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 GOOD LUCK BABE (K016) H Bowman Began awkwardly and shortly after was bumped by SILVER SPURS which shifted out.
Horse No 7 BIGTIME GENERATION (K496) H Y Yuen When commencing to close the race off shifted to the outside of FUN N FUN TOGETHER passing the 150 Metres to continue into clear running.
Horse No 8 MAPOGO (L175) P N Wong Shortly after the start was bumped.
Near the 350 Metres became unbalanced when it shifted in towards the running rail.
When questioned Apprentice P N Wong stated that her instructions were to lead.
She said after beginning only fairly and being crowded by NOTTHESILLYONE her intention was to maintain a position to the outside of NOTTHESILLYONE in the early stages.
She said when MAPOGO raced keenly she was unable to maintain her position to the outside of NOTTHESILLYONE which resulted in MAPOGO leading the event.
She added that due to the manner the horse raced in the early and middle stages it was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 SKY PHOENIX (K404) K Teetan The performance of SKY PHOENIX, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SKY PHOENIX will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 SILVER SPURS (J043) J Moreira Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped GOOD LUCK BABE.
Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
J Moreira could offer no explanation for the horse's disappointing performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 CONRAD THE GREAT (K217) A Badel A Badel stated that his intention was to be more forward, however, after beginning only fairly and then being tightened shortly after the start he was obliged to settle further back in the field than intended.
Horse No 12 FULL OF LAUGHTER (L017) R Kingscote A Atzeni (GOOD CHAP) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 700 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of FULL OF LAUGHTER, resulting in FULL OF LAUGHTER having to be checked.
A Atzeni was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 10 June 2026 and to expire on Sunday, 14 June 2026 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.

Notthesillyone handed up the lead to Mapogo 900m out before reclaiming the lead 250m out en route to a fourth win across both surfaces from nine starts this term. He continues to exceed expectations despite carrying topweight. Post-time favourite Happy Shooter was closing with every stride for second after a rails run from better than midfield. He's got options now after a solid run at his first start on this surface. Good Chap ran on nicely for third after a one-off trip from midfield. It was another good run on this surface. Fun N Fun Together came up one paced after sitting third and one off the fence from gate eight. He was able to back up a close third last start. Specked late Bigtime Generation made a decent bid late for fifth after making his run fourth last on the fence under a 10lb claimer. It was a positive showing at his first start on the surface. Conrad The Great was doing his best work late near the outside for sixth after a patient ride two from the rear. Early favourite Mapogo had no more to offer 250m out after rushing forward to lead 900m out from gate five.
