Race Six : (659) - THE QUEEN MOTHER MEMORIAL CUP (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 2400Meters
Horse No 1 STUNNING PEACH (J301) Y L Chung Bumped on jumping.
After the 500 Metres was bumped by NAUTICAL FORCE and taken wider when NAUTICAL FORCE shifted out to improve.
Horse No 3 GENTLEMEN LEGACY (K385) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 JOY OF SPRING (H383) E C W Wong E C W Wong stated that his mount races best when able to obtain cover and did not run out the 2400 Metres of today's race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 NAUTICAL FORCE (L187) K Teetan From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 500 Metres improved into a tight run between JOY OF SPRING and STUNNING PEACH and as a result made contact with STUNNING PEACH and became unbalanced.
K Teetan stated that his mount travelled keenly in the early stages when it settled back in the field as expected.
He said with the race being run at a slow pace throughout the early and middle stages NAUTICAL FORCE found it difficult to make up ground back in the field.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, NAUTICAL FORCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 FORTUNE BOY (K098) H Bentley On the Home Turn was briefly held up for clear running behind STUNNING PEACH.
H Bentley reported that his mount appeared to race "flat" today and did not appreciate the "Yielding" track conditions.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 ROMANTIC THOR (K012) M F Poon Bumped on jumping.

Well-backed Romantic Thor stole the race after a perfectly-rated run out front under Matthew Poon for a first local win at his 13th start. Gentlemen Legacy had his chance after a box-seat run but couldn't reel in the leader. It was another honest performance at his first start beyond 2,000m. Winning Wing ran on for third after making his move 580m out travelling second last in the seven-horse field. It was a good effort carrying 135lb on the wet track at his first start over 2,400m. Favourite Nautical Force peaked on his run 150m out after some argy-bargy rounding the final bend travelling last for the most part. He didn't disgrace after a stylish win on his local debut over 1,800m. Stunning Peach only plodded after a one-out, one-back run. The big weight and step up to 2,400m on a wet track took its toll.
