Racing Incident Report
Race Ten : (663) - SHENZHEN CENTRE 1400M HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 BEAUTY CRESCENT (H334) Y L Chung Raced keenly in the early stages.
Near the 900 Metres shifted out when being steadied to avoid EXCEED THE LIMIT.
The performance of BEAUTY CRESCENT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, BEAUTY CRESCENT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 4 THE BOOM BOX (K076) E Brown From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight and the vigour he applied to the horse E Brown stated that after settling back in the field his vision was impaired due to the kickback.
He said for this reason near the 400 Metres he lowered his goggles but then experienced difficulty with his vision and as a result he was unable to fully test his mount.
He added as THE BOOM BOX continued to run on in the Home Straight he was not able to fully test the horse as he improved close to RIDING TOGETHER over the concluding stages.
Jockey Brown was reminded of his obligation to ensure that he advises the Stewards of any condition that may affect the performance of his riding duties under Rule 59(8).
Horse No 6 FORTUNE LINK (L311) H Y Yuen Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that the instructions were to go forward.
She said her mount jumped only fairly and then was crowded between RED MAESTRO and BABY SAKURA which shifted out, this resulted in FORTUNE LINK settling back in the field.
She added after settling back in the field her mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight from that position.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 PI LEGEND (L117) E C W Wong Lay in under pressure in the Home Straight and near the 250 Metres shifted in and made contact with the running rail.
E C W Wong stated that the instructions were to lead but his mount gave ground quickly over the final 200 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 QUANTUM LEGEND (L268) Z Purton Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Horse No 9 RED MAESTRO (L030) H Bowman Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by FORTUNE LINK which was taken out.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 YEE CHEONG GLORY (K074) A Badel Jumped only fairly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 12 EXCEED THE LIMIT (L267) M F Poon M F Poon stated that his mount jumped only fairly and then was crowded between BEAUTY CRESCENT and QUANTUM LEGEND which shifted out, which resulted in EXCEED THE LIMIT settling further back than intended.
He said when positioned back in the field his mount resented the kickback and also did not appreciate the "Soft" track conditions.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 13 KING OF FIGHTERS (K174) K Teetan Near the 600 Metres was briefly crowded by RED MAESTRO which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
Horse No 14 BABY SAKURA (L230) A Atzeni Shifted out shortly after the start despite the efforts of its rider and made contact with FORTUNE LINK.

Favourite Baby Sakura came from just off the speed to win going away 200m out for a second win and two thirds from four starts. He appreciated both a light weight and step up to 1,400m at his initial start in Class Three. Red Maestro ran on nicely for second after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He was able to build on a pleasing fifth on his local debut over 1,200m. Embraces ran on steadily for third after a rails run from midfield. He appeared to enjoy the wet track conditions. Riding Together had to settle for fourth after getting all favours in the box seat from gate 10. Yee Cheong Glory was running on late near the outside for fifth after a patient ride second last from gate 12. Punted late Quantum Legend ran on without threatening after making his run five back and one off the fence. It was a better effort with a step up to 1,400m at his second local start.
