Race Five : (609) - THE HONG KONG CHINA RUGBY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 BEAUTY ALLIANCE (J260) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 LE ZONDA (L110) C L Chau Shortly after the start became unbalanced when crowded between SUPERB KID and FORTUNATE SON which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Horse No 3 WROTE A NEW PAGE (K226) J Moreira Shortly after the start shifted out slightly, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
Horse No 4 DO YOUR PART (J444) L Ferraris On jumping was bumped when crowded between KING LOTUS and WIN METHOD, both of which shifted ground.
Near the 250 Metres was eased and shifted to the outside of BEAUTY ALLIANCE to obtain clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 KING LOTUS (K186) J Orman On jumping shifted out and made contact with DO YOUR PART.
As a result DO YOUR PART then shifted in and crowded KING LOTUS shortly after the start.
Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to WROTE A NEW PAGE.
Horse No 6 FORTUNATE SON (J446) K Teetan Shortly after the start shifted in, resulting in its rider K Teetan having to correct his mount.
Bumped near the 1300 Metres.
Near the 1100 Metres was hampered when taken wider by GRATIFIDE which shifted out.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 7 CALIFORNIA MOXIE (J131) A Atzeni Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 SUPERB KID (H298) M L Yeung On jumping was badly crowded between LE ZONDA and CALIFORNIA MOXIE which shifted out.
Horse No 9 GRATIFIDE (K550) M Chadwick Crowded shortly after the start.
In the early stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 1100 Metres was steadied to avoid BEAUTY ALLIANCE.
Horse No 10 WIN METHOD (K406) L Hewitson Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
Horse No 11 SUPREME MASTERMIND (K387) H Bentley Shortly after the start was crowded between WROTE A NEW PAGE which shifted out slightly and GRATIFIDE .
Near the 1300 Metres commenced to race keenly and shifted out when being steadied to avoid GRATIFIDE.
As a result SUPREME MASTERMIND made contact with FORTUNATE SON.

Punted late Beauty Alliance tracked the speed before wearing down Win Method to lead 50m out and holding off the late surge of post-time favourite Do Your Part for a fourth and first from three starts over the Valley 1,650m. Do Your Part made it close on the wire after switching out for a clear run 200m out following a box-seat run. He's as honest as the day is long. Win Method wouldn't go down without a fight after dictating the pace from gate six. He has what it takes to hold his own in this grade after back-to-back wins in Class Four. Fortunate Son stayed on well for fourth without threatening the top three after a wide trip without cover travelling midfield from gate 11. It was a better effort after failing to menace in two prior starts. Le Zonda was running on late for fifth after making his run three wide travelling third last from gate 10. He's better suited over a longer trip. Wrote A New Page only plodded when asked for an effort after a rails run from better than midfield. It was another disappointing effort on his return to the track and trip of three wins from three prior starts.
