Race Eight : (601) - HUMPHREYS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 MISTER DAPPER (H376) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 PRESTIGE GOOD (K131) H Y Yuen Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that from the outside barrier the instructions were to go forward.
She said after shifting in on jumping and making contact with HYMNBOOK her mount did not show sufficient pace to do so despite being ridden along in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 WINDLORD (L184) C L Chau Shifted in on jumping and was bumped.
Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400 Metres and the 200 Metres.
Horse No 4 ENDUED (K033) A Atzeni Over the final 350 Metres was held up for clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 FLYING LUCK (J339) J Moreira Jumped only fairly and then was bumped by WINDLORD which shifted in on jumping.
J Moreira stated that his mount did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight and was somewhat disappointing.
Trainer C Fownes advised that the horse had pleased him leading into the race and the only explanation he could offer was that FLYING LUCK was disadvantaged by settling back and having to make a run wider on the track.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 AMAZING PARTNERS (K554) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 HAPPY TERCENTENARY (L185) K C Leung Jumped only fairly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 HYMNBOOK (L238) K Teetan On jumping was crowded between LEGEND WINNER and PRESTIGE GOOD which shifted in.
Near the 150 Metres raced tight between RISING PHOENIX and LEGEND WINNER which shifted in slightly.
Over the concluding stages brushed with RISING PHOENIX when that runner shifted out slightly.
Horse No 10 LEGEND WINNER (L032) R Kingscote As L Ferraris was unable to fulfil the engagement on LEGEND WINNER due to being overweight, R Kingscote was substituted as the rider of that horse.
The explanation provided by Jockey Ferraris for his overweight was accepted.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 11 RISING PHOENIX (J498) A Badel Jumped only fairly.
Near the 150 Metres was bumped by HYMNBOOK.

Amazing Partners travelled one off better than midfield before hitting the front 150m out and beating the gutsy Mister Dapper for a third win and three thirds from six starts. He handled a step up to 1,600m without a hitch. Mister Dapper wouldn't go down without a fight after getting his own way in front from gate three. He's always a chance over 1,600m. Withallmyfaith stuck on gamely for third after a speed-tracking run from gate nine. He's run well to place in three of five starts over 1,600m. Rising Phoenix just failed to get up for a placing after getting held up for a run between the 300m and 100m following a rails run from behind midfield. He should have finished closer. Hymnbook came from last after straightening four deep to just miss a top four spot. It was an improved effort at his third local start. Shanwah stayed on better for sixth after a wide trip with cover from midfield. It was his best effort from seven local starts.
