Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (589) - THE SPORTS CLUB DIAMOND JUBILEE CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 A TIME FOR US (K475) B Avdulla Over the final 50 Metres raced in restricted room between FREE PONY and MONARCH COUNTY and as a result could not be fully ridden out to the end of the race.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 2 MONARCH COUNTY (J421) J Moreira Leaving the 1100 Metres made contact with FREE PONY, resulting in MONARCH COUNTY commencing to race ungenerously.
A short distance later MONARCH COUNTY shifted out and got its head up when being restrained to avoid FORERUNNER.
MONARCH COUNTY continued to race ungenerously in the middle stages and near the 750 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from FREE PONY.
J Moreira stated that the intention was to hold a slightly more forward position.
He said MONARCH COUNTY was not suited by the early stages of the event being run outside of standard time and finished the race off only fairly under pressure in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 JOKER ORBIT (L115) H Bowman Trainer C S Shum confirmed that from the outside barrier he had instructed H Bowman to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.
Horse No 4 FIND MY LOVE (H110) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 5 BRIGHT DAY (J530) P N Wong Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 FREE PONY (K229) J Orman Leaving the 1100 Metres made contact with MONARCH COUNTY.
Horse No 7 FORERUNNER (G465) A Badel A Badel stated that his instructions were to go forward and attempt to obtain cover.
He said when FORERUNNER commenced well he was able to go forward but was unable to obtain cover.
Horse No 8 MARVEL AND GOLD (K109) C L Chau From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Lay in in the early stages of the Home Straight when being shifted out to obtain clear running.
Horse No 9 SMART FIGHTER (H278) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 STAR FIGURE (K215) A Atzeni Near the 200 Metres was eased to avoid MARVEL AND GOLD which shifted out to obtain clear running.
A Atzeni stated that his mount travelled only fairly during the event and after being hampered and taken wider on the Home Turn finished the race off in a one-paced manner in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 SAME TO YOU (H057) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 12 FLYING CHRISTIE (K483) R Kingscote Slow to begin.

Well-backed Smart Fighter controlled the pace from gate five and kept fighting for a third career win and first this season over the Valley 1,200m from 29 starts. Bright Day stayed on well for second after getting all favours in the box seat with the claim well utilised. It was his best effort from four starts over the Valley 1,200m. Free Pony just won a battle for third after travelling fifth with cover one off the fence. He was able to back up a third last start. Forerunner just lost third after a speed-tracking run from gate eight. It was another good run despite a change in tactics after a rallying second last time out. Same To You got going late near the outside for fifth after making his run four back and one off the fence. Find My Love ran on steadily without threatening near the inside after a rails run from midfield. Old age seems to be getting the better of him. Favourite Monarch County made only a mild bid late through the centre after slotting one off with cover travelling midfield. He was having his first run since January and may be better suited over 1,400m nowadays.
