Racing Incident Report
Race One : (585) - COCHRANE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 DECISION LINK (K416) J Moreira Jumped only fairly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 LEGENDARY IMPACT (K035) A Badel Bumped near the 300 Metres.
Horse No 3 BLUE BARON (J448) L Hewitson Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when racing tight between THOUSAND CUPS which shifted out slightly and TEAM HAPPY which was taken in slightly by DECISION LINK.
Horse No 4 CONCORDE STAR (J344) J Orman J Orman stated that his mount was able to obtain a favourable position during the race and after initially responding to his riding in the early stages of the Home Straight commenced to give ground over the final 100 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 ONE AND ONLY (K273) M L Yeung Raced keenly in the early stages and making the first turn near the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid CHILL MASTER.
Near the 200 Metres was steadied to avoid PODIUM (H Bowman) which shifted in when not quite clear.
H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.
M L Yeung stated that with his mount having its first race start for Trainer J Richards, he was asked to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.
Horse No 7 THOUSAND CUPS (J482) Y L Chung Bumped shortly after the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 PODIUM (H173) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 REWARDING TWINKLE (J368) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by ALWAYS MY FOLKS which shifted in abruptly.
Horse No 10 ALWAYS MY FOLKS (J345) Z Purton Shifted in abruptly on jumping and was bumped.
Near the 300 Metres was bumped by LEGENDARY IMPACT which shifted out slightly.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 CHILL MASTER (J319) C L Chau Shortly after the start shifted out and made contact with THOUSAND CUPS.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 TEAM HAPPY (J218) K Teetan After passing the winning post was checked to avoid DECISION LINK (J Moreira) which shifted in.
J Moreira was reprimanded and advised he must ensure that he is sufficiently clear when he allows his mounts to shift ground.

Early favourite Decision Link was given a patient ride fourth last from gate 12 and swooped late with one wider out to overhaul Thousand Cups in the final few metres for a first win following a downgrade. He had shown flashes of potential at times in Class Four and the new retainership of trainer and jockey started with a bang. Thousand Cups nearly stole the race after leading from gate three. It was his best run from 11 starts. Chill Master ran on nicely near the inside for third after making his run five back on the fence. He was in the mix in two of four other Valley 1,200m runs this term. Team Happy kept on well for fourth after a handy run one off the fence. It was an improved effort following a stable change. Blue Baron was on his tippy toes 100m out after a speedtracking run from gate eight. It was an okay effort for his new trainer following a downgrade. Rewarding Twinkle ran on without threatening near the outside after making his run second last following a tardy start. He keeps promising without delivering. Concorde Star had his chance but hit a flat spot 100m out following a box-seat run.
