Punted late Lucky Sweynesse opted out of an battle for the lead to travel one-out, one back from gate 10 and after leading 250m out, he just scrambled in for a 17th win and first in two years from 32 starts. My Wish was closing with every stride through the centre to make it close on the wire after travelling five back on the fence. He is a smart miler. Voyage Bubble stayed on well for third after a rails run from midfield. He was able to brush off a flat run last start over 2,000m. Galaxy Patch came on late to snatch fourth after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield. He is an honest performer. Fast Network ran on late through the centre to just miss fourth prize money after a patient ride third last from gate 11. He's more effective over a shorter trip. Chancheng Glory gradually faded after dictating the run from gate one.

Race Nine : (582) - THE CHAIRMAN'S TROPHY - Class G2 - 1600Meters

Horse No 2 RED LION (H115) A Atzeni A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 LUCKY SWEYNESSE (G180) K C Leung Lay in in the Home Straight.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 BEAUTY JOY (E058) B Avdulla Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 5 FAST NETWORK (J358) Z Purton Briefly held up for clear running near the 300 Metres.

Over the final 150 Metres lay out under pressure and made contact with GALAXY PATCH on a number of occasions.

When questioned Z Purton stated that from a wide barrier he had been instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.

He said the instructions were issued as FAST NETWORK was stepping up in distance from its last start over 1200 Metres and also to offset the strong headwind in the Back Straight and along the side of the track between the 800 Metres and the 500 Metres.

Trainer C H Yip confirmed the instructions and the reasons as to why he issued such instructions.

Horse No 6 GALAXY PATCH (H399) K Teetan Over the final 150 Metres made contact with FAST NETWORK on a number of occasions when FAST NETWORK shifted out under pressure.

Horse No 7 CAP FERRAT (K021) A Badel Jumped awkwardly and then was crowded by MY WISH which shifted out.

For some distance near the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of GALAXY PATCH.

Near the 100 Metres was taken out by GALAXY PATCH and made contact with SUNLIGHT POWER.

Horse No 8 MY WISH (J256) H Bowman Shifted out on jumping and made contact with CAP FERRAT.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 RUBYLOT (H412) L Hewitson Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping and became unbalanced.

Near the 250 Metres was eased when crowded between PATCH OF THETA and FAST NETWORK which shifted out to improve.

In this incident RUBYLOT made contact with PATCH OF THETA.

Horse No 10 SUNLIGHT POWER (H244) C Y Ho Bumped near the 100 Metres.

Horse No 12 PATCH OF THETA (H485) R Kingscote Jumped awkwardly.

Near the 250 Metres was bumped by RUBYLOT and then was eased to avoid BEAUTY JOY.

Horse No 14 STUNNING PEACH (J301) Y L Chung From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Y L Chung stated that after settling back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight, particularly as it was stepping up in grade today.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
