Lucky Man had a prominent run on the fence from gate one and was able avoid a midrace incident 250m out to win going away 200m out. He was able to recapture top form for his new trainer. Robot Star ran on nicely for second after making his run three from the rear. He continues to race well with seconds in two of his past three starts after a 1,400m win in January. Illuminous recovered well after getting hampered mid-stretch to grab third after making his run five back and on the fence. He was able to build on an unlucky 10th last start. Duke Of Orange dashed well near the inside for fourth after biding his time third last from gate 14. It was a good run with a step up to 1,400m. Flying Knight stayed on for fifth after a one-off trip from midfield. He's gone better in two of his past three starts over 1,400m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (577) - PLUNKETT'S HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 GALLANT EPOCH (J451) H Y Yuen A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 LUCKY RANGER (L071) L Ferraris Bumped at the start.

Approaching the 250 Metres LUCKY RANGER sustained an injury to the left front leg and was immediately treated by Veterinarians.

After it was determined that the injury was too severe to be saved, LUCKY RANGER was euthanised.

L Ferraris was examined by the Chief Medical Officer and stood down from his subsequent riding engagements.

Samples were taken from the horse.

Horse No 3 ROBOT STAR (K559) H Bowman On jumping shifted out and made contact with LUCKY RANGER.

Approaching the 250 Metres was severely checked to avoid LET'S HAVE FUN.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 CLEANSWEEPER (K555) K C Leung Near the 250 Metres was steadied to avoid ROBOT STAR.

Horse No 5 FLYING KNIGHT (K370) C Y Ho Near the 250 Metres was hampered when it shifted out and away from ROBOT STAR.

Horse No 6 KING CANNON (K543) R Kingscote From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 7 LET'S HAVE FUN (L118) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.

Between the 450 Metres and the 400 Metres was held up for clear running.

Approaching the 250 Metres became badly unbalanced when being severely checked to avoid LUCKY RANGER when that runner went amiss.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 CALIFORNIA BAY (K364) Z Purton When giving ground near the 250 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by ILLUMINOUS.

Shortly after CALIFORNIA BAY was steadied to avoid GALLANT EPOCH (Apprentice H Y Yuen) which shifted out whilst being ridden along.

Apprentice Yuen was reprimanded and advised she must ensure that she stops riding and straightens her mounts whilst not clear.

Z Purton stated that when unable to cross GALLANT EPOCH and I EXCELLE in the early stages his mount was left racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have blood in its mouth.

Horse No 9 ILLUMINOUS (J170) M F Poon Slow to begin.

Approaching the 250 Metres shifted in and away from LUCKY RANGER and made contact with CALIFORNIA BAY.

Horse No 10 GOR GOR (K104) K Teetan Near the 250 Metres was checked to avoid CALIFORNIA BAY.

K Teetan advised that he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages as connections felt it was advantageous to settle back in the field having regard to today's racing pattern.

Horse No 11 I EXCELLE (K502) A Atzeni When giving ground was bumped by LUCKY MAN near the 300 Metres.

Horse No 12 DUKE OF ORANGE (K540) C L Chau Jumped awkwardly.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 13 QUICK MONEY (K377) A Badel Approaching the 250 Metres was steadied to avoid ROBOT STAR.

Horse No 14 LUCKY MAN (J315) H Bentley Between the 400 Metres and the 350 Metres was held up for clear running behind I EXCELLE.

When improving to the inside of GALLANT EPOCH approaching the 300 Metres shifted in and made contact with I EXCELLE.
