Well backed Hailtothevictors ran on from midfield on the fence to take the lead near the 60m and just held on for a first win at his 13th start. The reapplication of blinkers and return to his preferred dirt 1,650m worked the oracle. Meepmeep dashed nicely to make it close on the wire after getting help up for a run until the 200m travelling behind midfield and one off the fence. He's a winner waiting to happen. Verbier succumbed late for third after assuming the lead 260m out prompting the pace of favourite Happydearhappydeer from gate nine. It was his best effort from four dirt 1,650m runs. Punted late Celestial Harmony stayed on for fourth after a one-off trip from midfield. He's gone OK in back-to-back runs after a win in January. Go Go Go ran on steadily near the outside for fifth after a wide trip with cover travelling behind midfield from gate 12. He couldn't back up a front-running win last start. Jolly Jumper gradually faded after sitting near the front with cover from gate six. Happydearhappydeer tamely faded after getting pressured up front from gate five.

Z Purton reported that due to his mount not wanting to settle in the early and middle stages, in his opinion, was the reason for its disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of DIRIYA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, DIRIYA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
