Recap by phillip woo

Better And Better travelled behind midfield from gate 13 and let rip late near the outside to just overhaul Vigor Eye for the win for a first win at his 12th start. Vigor Eye was grabbed late after briefly leading 50m out following a box-seat run. He's a winner in waiting after filling the frame in four of five starts. Early favourite Live Wire grudgingly gave way after dictating the pace from gate five. It was a better effort as expected after a troubled seventh last start. Punted late Alabama Song stayed on a non-threatening fourth after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He had his chance. Warriors Dream gradually faded after a speed-tracking run. He couldn't back up a win carrying 7lb more following a win. Relentless Pursuit just failed to get up for fifth after a wide with cover trip travelling midfield from gate 11. He's run okay in both starts.
