Winning Ovation travelled in the box seat before hitting the front 300m out and finding plenty for a third win and two on the bounce from four starts. He's very talented and can head higher. Well-backed Six Pack ran on well to finish a close second after taking closer order to sit fourth and one off the fence 750m out. It was another honest performance up in class off a lighter weight. Speed Dragon ran on nicely near the inside to finish a distant third after biding his time fourth last following a slow start. It was another solid performance despite a step back in distance following a win and second over 1,800m. Light Years Charm ran on nicely through the centre for fourth after making his run second last from gate 10. It was a better effort over his preferred 1,400m following a 1,200m defeat. Storm Rider stayed kept on one-paced after a handy run on the fence.

Race Ten : (544) - GOLDEN SIXTY HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 LIGHT YEARS CHARM (K130) D B McMonagle Jumped only fairly and then was bumped by DROMBEG BANNER which shifted out.

Near the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a narrow run between INFINITE RESOLVE and STEPS AHEAD which was giving ground, resulting in LIGHT YEARS CHARM making contact with STEPS AHEAD.

Horse No 2 RUBYLOT (H412) H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 5 MOMENTS IN TIME (H474) R Kingscote Near the 900 Metres was eased to avoid INFINITE RESOLVE which shifted in.

Horse No 6 SPEED DRAGON (H380) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by WINNING OVATION which shifted out abruptly.

Horse No 8 DROMBEG BANNER (H117) A Atzeni Shifted out on jumping and was bumped.

A Atzeni stated that his mount ran inside standard time in the early and middle stages when it raced keenly in the lead.

He added as a result DROMBEG BANNER was unable to finish the race off in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 MUGEN (H338) Z Purton Jumped awkwardly.

In the early stages of the Home Straight lay in when being shifted to the outside of MOMENTS IN TIME.

Z Purton stated that after settling back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight from that position.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 STEPS AHEAD (J263) L Hewitson Near the 150 Metres was eased when bumped by LIGHT YEARS CHARM.

L Hewitson stated that the intention was to go forward but obtain cover if possible.

He said when unable to obtain cover he was obliged to race outside the leader DROMBEG BANNER where his mount gave ground under pressure in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 SIX PACK (K061) K Teetan Prior to declaring weighed-in Trainer D J Whyte and Jockey K Teetan viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were grounds for a protest/objection against WINNING OVATION being declared the winner.

When connections declined to lodge a protest/objection and the Stewards were satisfied that the contact between SIX PACK and WINNING OVATION (Y L Chung) near the 100 Metres was principally due to SIX PACK shifting ground and having regard to the manner in which both horses finished the race off, they declined to lodge a protest/objection and weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

At a subsequent inquiry Y L Chung and K Teetan were advised to exercise more care to prevent their mounts from shifting ground and making contact.

Horse No 13 WINNING OVATION (K350) Y L Chung Shifted out abruptly at the start.

Near the 100 Metres made contact with SIX PACK, resulting in WINNING OVATION becoming unbalanced.

Horse No 14 CIRCUIT GRAND SLAM (K201) P N Wong Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Races 8 - 10 were each put back 5 minutes.

After the running of Race 2, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 2 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm"
