Racing Incident Report
Race Six : (531) - DAHLIA HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Meters
Horse No 1 CHARITY GAIN (H431) H Bowman H Bowman stated that when his mount commenced well it settled in a more forward position than anticipated.
He added in the Home Straight his mount did not respond to his riding and finished the race off only fairly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 NOBLE PURSUIT (H324) A Badel From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 350 Metres was hampered when taken wider by SHARPEN BRIGHT.
Bumped near the 250 Metres.
Horse No 3 ACE WAR (J509) Z Purton Jumped only fairly, shifted out and made contact with OCEAN IMPACT.
Shortly after the start became unbalanced when crowded by RELIABLE DAD (J Orman) which was directed to the inside of OCEAN IMPACT when there was not sufficient room to do so.
J Orman was reprimanded.
A short distance later ACE WAR, which was racing keenly, was then crowded by OCEAN IMPACT which shifted in and away from CHARITY GAIN.
Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.
Held up on the Home Turn.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 AMAZING GAZE (K444) L Hewitson Bumped shortly after the start.
Held up between the 400 Meres and the 300 Metres.
Near the 250 Metres shifted to the outside of OCEAN IMPACT to obtain clear running and made contact with NOBLE PURSUIT.
L Hewitson stated that the instructions were to go forward.
He said despite riding his mount along in the early stages it did not show sufficient pace to do so and when caught wide he elected to restrain his mount to obtain cover.
Horse No 5 OCEAN IMPACT (J502) C L Chau Became unbalanced on jumping when bumped on the hindquarters.
Near the 500 Metres shifted to the outside of CHARITY GAIN and as a result made contact with SHARPEN BRIGHT.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 RELIABLE DAD (L006) J Orman Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 7 SHARPEN BRIGHT (H276) Y L Chung Bumped shortly after the start.
Bumped near the 500 Metres.
Approaching the 300 Metres AMAZING GAZE (L Hewitson) shifted to the outside of OCEAN IMPACT to improve when there was not sufficient room to do so.
As a result AMAZING GAZE made contact with SHARPEN BRIGHT, resulting in SHARPEN BRIGHT being crowded for room.
Near the 250 Metres SHARPEN BRIGHT was then checked when crowded between NOBLE PURSUIT which shifted in slightly after being bumped by SHARPEN BRIGHT and AMAZING GAZE which was taken out slightly by OCEAN IMPACT.
L Hewitson was reprimanded and advised he must ensure that there is sufficient room to improve into runs.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 12 KINGLY DEMEANOR (H486) M L Yeung Sent for sampling post-race.

Firming favourite Ace War quickened brilliantly through the centre to win going away 60m out for back-to-back wins following a stable change. He's got the tools to head higher now that the penny has dropped. Kingly Demeanor kept on gamely for second after leading from gate 10. It was clearly his best run of the campaign. Smart City kept on well for third after settling box seat from gate 11. He's a winner in waiting. Reliable Dad wove a run near the inside for fourth after making his run second last from gate six. It was another honest performance. Can't Go Wong ran on steadily along the inside for fifth after a rails run from behind midfield. He rarely produces a bad run over this course. Good Luck Win gradually faded after being hustled along from gate 12 to settle one off in second 1,500m out. Forever Glorious only plodded when asked for more after a midfield run near the inside. Charity Gain didn't find much in the straight run after peeling three wide 600m out following a one-out, one-back run. It was a disappointing effort despite a downgrade and return to his favourite Valley 1,800m.
