Fallon had a one-off trip travelling midfield from gate four and ran on strongly to overhaul odds-on favourite China Win 30m out for a fifth win from 30 starts. China Win did everything right but found one too good after surging to the lead near the 200m following a prominent run. He was beaten but clearly has the tools to head higher off his current mark. Veteran Keefy stayed on well for third without threatening the top two after a box-seat run. He's building towards a win but the Valley 1,650m tends to suit him better. Le Zonda ran on nicely near the inside for fourth after biding his time third last from gate 10. He's shown flashes of ability once across each track from three local runs. Punted late Highland Rahy faltered over the last 100m for fifth after leading from gate six. He might be close to a rating bottom. Mighty Strength ran on steadily to just miss fifth prize money after a one-off trip from behind midfield. Firming late in betting Mister Dapper didn't have much left over the last 150m after working hard to track the speed from gate seven. Another World just held his ground following a rails run from midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (514) - LYTTELTON HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Meters

Horse No 1 JUMBO LEGEND (G266) H Bowman Bumped shortly after the start.

H Bowman stated that his mount made a respiratory noise during the event and did not respond to his riding when asked for an effort from the 500 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer"which had previously been reported.

Horse No 2 MISTER DAPPER (H376) B Avdulla Kicked a rail behind the barriers, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Near the 350 Metres made contact with KEEFY when KEEFY was shifted to the outside of HIGHLAND RAHY to improve.

Horse No 3 LA CITY BLANCHE (G371) H Bentley From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 4 KEEFY (G306) M F Poon Bumped on jumping.

Near the 350 Metres shifted out to improve and made contact with MISTER DAPPER.

Horse No 6 HIGHLAND RAHY (J298) L Hewitson Bumped on jumping.

Horse No 7 ANOTHER WORLD (K005) C Y Ho C Y Ho reported that after making contact with FALLON making the turn after the 600 Metres his mount did not run on in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 FALLON (H219) M L Yeung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 ENTHUSIUM (L107) D B McMonagle D B McMonagle stated that from the outside barrier he was obliged to shift his mount behind runners in the early stages.

He said with the early stages of the event being run outside of standard time, when the pace of the race increased from the 600 Metres, his mount found it difficult to make up ground from back in the field.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
